Another not so wordless weekday. A surprising study in the diversity of green leaves.

Oak Leaf Hydrangea by Richard WeisserAlthough most outdoor and nature photographers usually prefer the presence and color of flowers, or the brilliant hues of autumn foliage, there is still a special kind and unique kind of beauty resplendent in green leaves.

Whether they are dew soaked or dry, no two species of plants has leaves that are exactly alike. So there is a wide diversity of forms and textures. It's a nice challenge to photograph leaves, because they are apt to dance and tremble in the wind

Nature provides photographic subjects all around us, and sometimes we may overlook something as "ordinary" or "plain." I don't think that there is anything ordinary or plain about these photographs, and I hope that you agree!

Some would say it's God's fingerprint. You are right. Even the simplest of everyday sights, can be a tremendously complex and beautiful item up close. I can just be in awe how they grow from a seed to 100+ feet tall.

Lisa...

Oh yeah, work is always interfering with my fun! lol

Vickie...

Well, I have better than average equipment, but not the best. But I consider photography to be an art form and not a technical skill ... I try to visualize what result I want to achieve and then use technique to accomplish it! THX

Rita...

I like them for simplicity, and deep rich color ...and incredible detail! Thanks for the nice comment.

Richard,

This reminds me of one of my favorite books/movies - "Into the Wild"...Have you seen it? I highly recommend it! I won't tell how this relates, but you'll find out in the end. It's a true story about a college grad who forsakes all material things to trek across the country to Alaska. He meets many interesting folks along the way. Hal Linden had a tear jerking role! Please let me know what you think of it - it's pretty thought provoking.
