Behind the times?

By
Real Estate Agent with Sundance Realty

Maybe I am behind the times and then again maybe not; I have been blogging, twittering, face booking, just to name a few of the amazing technological networking advances of our time, have I left any out?  Do you know of any new fangled online networking event that the rest of us have somehow missed out on?

How about Docusign, are there any Real Estate Brokers out there that are currently using either this or another program for digital signing of documents? I happened across this website and thought "How cool is this?" Does it work, as easy as they say? If given the choice would you turn back the hands of time and purposely drive across town to grab a signature?

I know it seems I'm full of questions today; I just want to work smarter, not harder... I want to use every advantage to my benefit, and leave no stone unturned. I want to hear from you all, the seasoned Real Estate movers and shakers about the new advances in our industry. This business is evolving daily, especially in our current market place, I want to give personal service of course, but I want to utilize every bit of online savvy to my customer's advantage as well as my own.  I want the face to face conference's to be more than rushed document signature gathering, I want it to be a relationship building and high quality professional precedence setting occasion. I want my clients to be amazed at the ease of their transaction and surprised at how pleasant the purchasing or selling experience can actually be. I want my clients to see that I am a professional and can make this entire event a truly non time consuming affair. So if any of you veteran brokers have any tidbits of savoir-faire to share with the rest of us, please do.....

I am excited to read about your knowledgeable and modus operandi....

Hi Shannon, I have HEARD of Docusign here on Active Rain particularly from some California agents. Other than the comments you receive here, maybe search the blog posts on it. It is a projected future trend to do more electronic signatures in the future. It hasn't caught on in our area yet.

Sorry, haven't heard of it and sounds like you are more advanced technologically than myself.  Like Gary's suggestion/idea, tho.

I have heard of docusign. I don't use it yet, but I do know of some local businesses that use something like this. I think it's a great way to save on paper and to get a fast signature.

I also agree with you trying to make the selling/buying process as easy as possible I am looking for many ways to do this, so if you hear of something let me know and I'll do the same for you.

What I have learned by being on here, is postlets are very good for your listing presentations if you don't have them automatically updated from the MLS. Also, Linkedin is a good network to join. Oh and they also make those labtop notebooks that flip into the virtual signature so that you don't waste paper. Hope you hear any good ideas from you and thanks for the post.

Greg Nino is using Docusign... I've heard some underwriters aren't accepting electronic signatures so I haven't gone that route yet.

We just did a deal today on it and it is absolutely amazing.  I was watching my business partner and his client drag over initials and signatures and it went to the buyer and they did the same (In Texas both parties have to agree to use the system).  Five minutes later, we have the agreement no different than it looks on ZipForms but with electronic signatures. It prints out just like zip forms with the added verbiage in blue, and the quality is exactly as it is when merely printing a form from zip forms.  THIS IS HUGE as lenders are kicking back agreements FROM UNDERWRITING that have too many scratch outs. Now we will see if this puppy closes...........

Hi Shannon,

There are some agents that I know in the Seattle area that are using Docusign. It has been especially useful when dealing with out of town or relocation clients.  They have found that some of the advantages are:

  • No more faxing back and forth so document is legible
  • Convenient for the client they only need an internet connection
  • Client does not have to find access to a fax machine
  • The system ensures the client signs in the correct locations and no missing signature.

Before proceeding I would suggest that you check to find out if you can use Docusign in your State/County and the requirements for using this system.

Hope this helps.

Sharon
