Red Feather Lakes, Colorado - Hilltop General Store

By
Real Estate Agent with United Country Ponderosa Realty

Hilltop General Store Red Feather Lakes ColoradoBuilt in 1923, the Hilltop General Store has quite a few stories to tell - that is, if stores could talk!

There is so much to see in this store, not only can you get daily necessities, but it is chockful of antiques; you can spend quite a long time just browsing, and remembering days gone by.

When you get tired of browsing, you can get an ice cream, sit outside and watch the fisherman on the lake.

Sue Stevens, in our office has the listing on the Hilltop General Store. I would love to help her find a buyer, but mostly I wanted to share this wonderful store with you, and also share another place in Red Feather Lakes that you probably have never been.

Please come along with me, click on the virtual tour, (it will open in another window) and enjoy a few minutes browsing in the Hilltop General Store in beautiful Red Feather Lakes, Colorado! Then I'll get you a virtual ice cream -- what flavor would you like??

Where the past is the present.  Love it.  How much does this little gem cost?  I wonder if these types of stores are a dying breed?  Guess we should get out there with our cameras and catch them while they are still there.

Jenny, the asking price is $775,000, with 6 Rental cabins!!

Red Feather doesn't have many stores, so I don't think they are a dying breed here, but maybe there are fewer in bigger towns and cities? I agree, we should photograph them and record their existance for future generations.... like when there are no stores and we all shop online LOL!!

Thanks for stopping by the General store tonight!

Ann, I appreciate your friendship too! I can't wait until we take our trip to Florida! LOL!!

Mary, I love local country stores, they have become almost extinct with all the big grocers around.

Hi Caren, What is really neat about this store and the others in Red Feather Lakes is that none of them are big and each is unique, it is a very small town with great opportunity for income among the locals and tourists.  Thanks for coming by today! Hope you have a great weekend!

Morning Mary....that's quite a property.  I hope the new owners won't change a thing, this is a wonderful piece of history and nostalgia.  AND what a setting, simply idyllic. I'll have Pralines and Cream please ;-)  Have a fun weekend.

Mary, sadly I'm living in one of the foreclosure capitals of the world )-:  Not much chance my house would sell, unless I took a loss.

Hi JJ, Thank you for stopping by today!  We didn't get any hail, thank goodness. I hope there wasn't too much damage, I was just commenting yesterday how beautiful the flowers, trees and shrubbery were down there this time of year!  It was nice of you stop by and I will certainly keep you in mind for any referrals I might have.  Thanks, JJ!

Great post about a way of life too many miss out on...I read a letter to the editor in the Vail paper some years back, from a visitor with a condo there.  He was complaining about all of the new construction ruining his experience in "his" little village where the coffee shop guy, knew his name...We all want that experience, whether in a "real" small town or a ritzy tourist town...

Hi Jenny - Better late than never!!:-0  I dug out a few for Speechless Sunday -- thanks for checking in with me!!

Hi Cheryl, I agree with you, the small stores, in small Villages are special.  I think patrons in any establishment that are recognized by name in a friendly manner, even in the big cities think those experiences are special -- and that's why they become "regulars"  I appreciate your story about Vail -- still building there! I hope the man found some places where people knew his name!  Thanks, Cheryl!!
