Property Description:

When I first walked this property I knew it had the makings to produce a giant so I named it the Warren County Whitetail Jungle.  After my experience there this fall I have renamed it the Warren County Split Farm.  It earned this name both because of the split brow tine genetics we saw on the property and the way you can split the farm in two and for two different hunting situations.
The owner of this property allowed us to hunt the property to collect some footage of the deer.  We didn’t have much time to do preseason scouting on this property, so Rod and I came up with a hunt plan based on the topography, food sources, and some huge tracks that were coming in and out of the cornfields on the north end of the property.
On October 13, the second day of hunting the property, we got to the property in the afternoon.  It was raining steadily, but there was a predicted wind shift from South East to North West at 4:00.  We knew that if that buck was there, he was probably bedded with the wind to his back on top of the ridges to the south of the cornfields.  Rod and I both felt that when that wind switched, he would get uncomfortable and come down off the ridge to move to another position.  A little before four, Rod said a shooter was coming down the hill…  The deer gross scored 185”.
After spending some time in the stand on this property, the farm really hunts like two farms, the north and the south.  They both have different wind options and food sources.  The north side of the farm has many acres of native grasses, some tillable acres, and a major creek bottom.  The south side of the farm has some great early season food sources, and some huge oak ridges.   
We got some great footage of some other bucks with the same genetics as this guy and next year they should surpass his size.  The owner caught a picture of another buck with the same genetics eating out of his bird feeder a few weeks after this hunt.  I saw that same buck when I went to pull our treestands.  Looks like some lucky hunter is going to get to have the same heart pumping action I had next year.
