Building Code Adopted in Barry County

Cassville's City Council has adopted the 2006 International Building Code as part of the municipal ordinances.

Covering only the city, and not Barry County, the building codes  information may be obtained by calling the City Building Inspector at City Hall.

The new ordinance covers flood resistance construction, patio covers, grading, as well as property maintenance codes, fire prevention codes, mechanical, electrical and plumbing guidelines for meeting the minimum requirements for construction.

Some area residents are hopeing that Cassville's Building Codes will encourage the ordinances be adopted for all of Barry County.

It is very important to keep up with all of these changes.  That is why persons buying or selling need to hire you for your experience and market knowledge!

While the Cassville Building Codes have been embraced and lauded by the majority of legitimate builders and contractors in the area, there are a few who are unwilling to build to any standards at all and resent these codes.  They have promised to have them "removed".

Residents of Barry County need to be aware that building codes are nothing more than very basic and minimum safety standards.  Most legitimate builders and contractors meet or exceed these standards on every job.  When the citizen hears of a builder or contractor objecting or otherwise unwilling to meet these standards....they are exactly the type of builder and contractor the law intends to discourage from operating within the city limits.
