Now is not the Time to get rid of bird nests!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with WHISPERING PINES REALTY 20398180

I received a call from an elderly client.  A bird had built a nest above the front door and had left so many calling cards, she could fill a box!

So, I had some time and I popped over to see her.  She was very adamant about getting rid of the nest.  So i took a stool and stood up and this is what I seen.

I told her that the nest would stay for a few more days.  When she realized that it was full,  She asked If when they were gone if I would come back.

Of course I will...She makes some of the best oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and I always have to stop in and have a few!  The job is easy and the pay is great!

Birds can make quite a mess.  watch this time of year and as soon as the nest is empty, get rid of it for many birds will set up a 2nd brood!.  Discourage them early on before they lay their eggs!  Thank You!

Yes, let them stay until they are out of the nest and ready to go -- and then move the nest --all the best.

I have a hanging basket near my front door, William, which now hosts a nest. Hubby thinks I'm silly, but I get scared every time I'm near that basket. Those little birds fly up to chase me and I get spooked - normally, I'm no fraidy-cat! Just wish they weren't at face level.

William--I see these nests under two story decks all the time. The residents move on as soon as the kids do...No reason to upset the family as it is just a few weeks. Nice picture!

While I don't like the presents they leave behind, I never bother bird nests around the house.
