How Good Are You At Turning Things Upside Down?

Some are naturally good at stirring the pot and coming up with fresh ideas. Others of us live in very consistent and structured worlds.

But creative thinking and brain storming and fresh ideas and looking at the world in a different way can possibly make things better or solve problems more optimally or get you where you want to go faster.

Practice in your mind using your imagination and thinking of something or a situation COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than the way you originally thought of it. It is what brought us the airplane, the personal computer, man on the moon, and even ways to park your bike at the beach. It's not that hard actually and is rather fun if you think about it.

What does this have to do with real estate or life in general? Solutions are truly out there for many problems, some solutions vastly better than others. But you have to work at it sometimes or even assist the help of others. When you find the cool best solution it is very rewarding and like a feather in your cap. Then you're off on your bicycle to tackle the next problem, with flair, gusto, and confidence. Then help others to show them there's more than just bicycles out there but bicycle makers who know how to put wings on those babies and make them fly.

I don't thrive on structure or order... I thrive on challenges and new opportunities.  As a matter of necessity, I have had to evolve with the market changes.  Looked at my old developer client list from 5 years ago, 7 of the 10 largest clients on the list are all out of business or closing this year.  So, you plans changes and we evolve.

Gary - this is excellent. What an inspiration for us to continue to think outside the box...a necessity, IMO, if one is to survive in this changing market. Doing things the same old way will not work.

My mind is constantly thinking up new ideas and as soon as one pops another evolves from it. Then the issues becomes on how to harness the ideas and focus those - not that's the tougher part for me, especially as regular work seems to get in the way :). ~Rita

I've been stirring the pot ever since I opened my own office 2 years ago. I do many things that other offices don't/won't do ... and do other things upside down. It drives the competition nuts! Look at what customers would LOVE and then provide that service.

Gary:  I have one specific solution I came up with that saved a transaction a few years ago that was really out of the box, but got the deal back on track.  I often look back at it and wonder how in the heck I came up with it.

I had to actually get some work in after I wrote this one and came back to read who had commented and was amazed at such great thoughts which I very much appreciate.
