I love volleyballThat is how I named the outdoor volleyball camp for which I volunteered to teach volleyball to the members of the Boys and Girls of Carbon County.  Today is the last of 8 lessons (spread over the last 4 weeks) where I will show kids with ages ranging from 7 to 12 years old how to play volleyball.

I am a firm believer of giving back to the community and I love working with kids.  So, when they asked me last year to join as a volunteer and help out with the tennis camps, I did not hesitate.  I have been a volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club over a year now and I am grateful to be able to teach them how to play my favorite team sport and one that I enjoyed playing since I was a kid.

For more info about the Boys and Girls Club of Carbon County and to check out what is happening at the Club, please visit their website at: www.bgcredlodge.org .

Good for you! I don't know a lot about the Boys and Girls Club Associations, but what I have heard, has all been good. Kids need role models, and actvities to teach them the lessons that form them into mature young men and women as they grow. Good luck!

Good thing you are doing there...I was in Girl Scouts growing up, and stuck with it all the way to adulthood, being a leader of two troops. After the second SON was born, I switched to Boy Scouts, but it just wasn't the same....=o( So many folks, (in the city, anyway!)  just don't have/take time to spend with their kids anymore, so it's really great to have an adult who cares!

Lisa,

Thanks.  I agree with your statement about what kids need.

Cheryl,

I am an adult who cares and who always enjoyed volunterring for good causes I believe in.  I have been a substitute teacher before and I always took joy about educating young minds whether it is math, science, language or in this case volleyball.  Thanks for sharing your story about the boys and girls scouts.
