How many different ways do you communicate with your clients?

I remember when I started in this business... WAY BACK in January of 2009...  that I had a lot of the more experienced agents telling me that I needed to get out and hit the pavement, knock on doors and hand out business cards.  They told me that I needed to

GET MY BUTT OUT THERE and FIND MY CLIENTS!!! 

Since I had a lot of experience with promoting past websites and social networking, my response to them was

WHY NOT LET MY CLIENTS COME FIND ME??? 

Don't get me wrong, I knock on doors and hand out business cards left and right, but most of my clients have found me online, whether it was a google search, them finding my blog, finding me on Zillow, Twitter, Facebook, AR, Trulia, etc etc etc... 

Which brings me to my question to you: 

How many different ways to you communicate with your clients? 

For me, here is how it breaks down: 

Some of my clients prefer a phone call first

A few of them want to meet face to face almost every time

MOST of my clients text me first

HALF of my clients send me messages on Facebook, plus when I am in the office I have my chat on...

A lot of my clients prefer email

NONE of my clients prefer contact by smoke signals.  :)

Jared, I'd say I am 50-50 e-mail/phone calls. I especially make a point of calling the seller when I have feedback from an  agent on a showing.

What source do you use for your"chat"?  I have used Mebo for live chat sessions from my website, but was not consistant enough about logging in when I was at my computer, so it's sort of fizzled out.  I still think it's a great idea.

I love email, because I can do it any time of day or night, and I know I am not disturbing them by calling when they are in the middle of something.  Depending on the age of the client/customer, I vary my method based upon how they contact me.  If you only started in January, you must have hit the ground running to have such a client base:-)

I'm mainly email.  Texting is definitely picking up, but sometimes it goes on too long and I text them, "Answer the phone, it's me calling!"

I absolutely agree with these agents. E-mail is the way for me. I use this about 80% of the time.  I do phone calls for the other 20%.   thanks for sharing.

Emails are great, texts are great...quick concise and you have a record of your conversation for your log. I love clients that are on Facebook, and I'm thinking I need to have my profile set to everyone so people can find me on Facebook too, rather than just friends....?

Online is a tremendous way of attracting clients! And none of our clients prefer contact by smoke signals, either. But we do have one that prefers contact by pigeon!

But, face to face contact is by far the most productive.

I primarily use a combination of e-mail, phone and/or face-to-face depending on the particular client.  Some people prefer other methods.

Email and texting seem to be my clients' favorite mode of communication. I do make calls as well though, and see prospects and past clients in person occassionally as well.
