Terry-truer words were never spoken about you having more to lose than they do.

Would love to hear how this goes.

Terry, wow, I just commented and commented and commented over on a post today about this very thing. Being polite and coming up with an answer about this problem.

I am tired, I am sick of all this, and I wish you well. But, I am mostly sure that this will all come to nothing yet again. I don't even bother to read what the latest proposals are as I can no longer stand to listen.

Just get the damn thing fixed.

Oh, can I moderate? And can I slap anyone upside the head?

Terry, I for one am on your side and want to be there when it happens.  I think the first thing that the politicians will need to do is actually read the bill.

Terry for a minute there I got all excited and thought, "Finally, maybe some answers to my questions". Oh well, great title ... but I don't think you'll get any takers. If you do, can I help Andrea moderate? She's going to need first aid from all that head slapping.

That is the problem right now with Health Care proposal...not one democrat wants to discuss what is in the bill.  They w ould rather call anyone who dares disagree with them "The Mob"

Edward and Celia: Not one republican can talk about what is actually in the bill. And the hired right-wing mob just shouts down Democratic reps in town hall meetings. This is not democracy and you all know it. All that the right-wing knows is what the talking heads tell them.

Why limit this civil discussion to leaders of Congress. Where are the republicans? Too busy obstructing to make it? They claim they want bi-partisanship but only on their terms. Babies.

Are you kidding me? They DON'T want to debate this. They want to stand in front of the American public and tell us how the republicans have ruined everything and that if we don't pass this ( insert whatever trillion dollar program being added today) by the end of the day then the American economy will collapse and the world will end. I guess we saved the economy by adding all of the czar's, taking over insurance, auto, banking and the mortgage industry and God only knows what we will take over next week. I think this is why we end up with 1500 page bill's going to the president for signing at 2 in the morning. Who can read this crap, the senators and congressman certainly don't, they are to busy adding pork to them with their hands open wide. They don't want debate, are you kidding me? They want your MONEY!!

If you can pull this off, you should run for President.

Wow, it's to early in the day for this! I need to go for a hike.

Gosh, I'm a Republican and I'm right here, let's talk. Seems to me you have a few of us here and more than willing to listen and discuss. Question is: Are you really game, or is this some of the same old nonsense of passing the blame game? Sorry Terry, this is your post.

I think we all just want this program debated and not shoved through without a thought. The congressmen and women who are cancelling public meetings will soon find out that Main Street is talking at these meetings...

Terry - I think Scott's comment is an example of what some on the left consider a civil forum.

Scott,

I am asking for an open and honest debate about the merits of the health care bill and the TARP bill. I am not hiding and I will for sure have a very civil discussion. I will even bring citizens to discuss it with the leaders that have been elected. Your comment proves more of my point than you will ever admit. There will be no shouting or blaming and none will be tolerated by the folks that view things the way they see it.

There will be no ambush just good folks discussing a proposal that these specific leaders feel needs passing. They might even want to hear someone who is not shouting and blaming, like they have for 20 plus years.

This is a sincere request for an open discussion. I have nothing to hide. If they have nothing to hide and can explain the bill they are recommending, then why NOT?

If they want we can discuss it on TV but with no audience. If they truly have the best interest of the country at heart then they should come away even stronger and more popular than they already are.

This is not a fight, it is a discussion.

They just don't understand! I don't want to argue or fight, I just want a clear factual debate. After-wards, We can all go eat Bar-B-Que. I will even buy the beer.

No kidding here. I am calming my tone, in an effort to understand and discuss. I hope they join me.... I will admit I am not open minded on the subject, but what the heck, they aren't either. I have some friends that are liberals and we discuss this and no one gets mad or loud. We just go play golf and enjoy our friendship.

I'm still waiting for an honest debate about the Iraq war and the trillions of dollars wasted that could have paid for important domestic issues such as health care insurance reform.

Having said that, insurance is state regulated. NY state dealt with many of these issues a decade ago. Pre-existing conditions were out lawed in NYS back in the 90's. Insurance premiums are based on geographic location (zip codes) rather than age or health. All insurance companies are required to offer insurance to any one as long as they can pay for it. Everyone in the same location pays the same premium. The money is pooled. The only reason one can be denied health insurance in NYS is if you fail to pay the premiums.

NY also invested in medical IT which has been successful in streamlining costs. All the hospital and medical records are linked electronically throughout the state.

There are several insurance plans available for poor and moderate incomes. The health care reform act of 2000 introduced many different plans and options for New Yorkers of all incomes including plans for self-employed and small businesses.

Since when has this administration wanted to debate anything! They just want to take more control of everything they can, and we should follow like sheep.
