By
Services for Real Estate Pros with National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Profession

The National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals offers a special THANK YOU to NAGLREP member Eric Kodner who submitted this proposal to his Wisconsin Realtor Association. We received this notification today...

"The Wisconsin REALTORS Association Board of Directors unanimously approved our Committee's proposal to change the NAR Code of Ethics and/or amend the federal Fair Housing Law to include sexual orientation. The proposal has been submitted to the National Association of REALTORS Interpretations and Procedures Subcommittee of the Professional Standards Committee (they have the power with regard to the Code of Ethics) and the NAR Equal Opportunity - Cultural Diversity Committee. The proposal to amend the Fair Housing Law has been referred to NAR legal counsel, we are told. This WRA proposal is going on the agenda for each of these committees for the NAR San Diego meetings on November 13-16."

Please understand... No changes to the NAR Code of Ethics/Fair Housing Law have been made at this time.. This is only information of a proposal which will officially be on the NAR San Diego agenda for November 13-16.

Jeff, this is exciting news!

Thank you for the mention in your post.  I've been communicating with Debra Peterson Conrad, the WRA Director of Legal Affairs, and I know she and the rest of our members on the WRA Equal Opportunities in Housing Commitee are hoping for a favorable outcome from NAR's deliberations on this very important issue.

Troy, Thank you :)  We will surely post the results to this board after the November NAR meetings in San Diego.  If you will be there in San Diego, please join NAGLREP for our 2nd annual meeting November 13th @ 6:30pm.  Dick Gaylord, the 2008 NAR president and a NAGLREP member, will be a guest speaker at our annual meeting.  The meeting is a complimentary dinner, and is a lot of fun.  The venue is soon to be announced. visit http://www.naglrep.com and click contact to send an email if you would like to join us.

My understanding is that NAR has now updated the code of ethics. Right?
