  • Going green starts at home. The word "eco" traces back to the Greek word "oikos", meaning 'house'.
  • It is a fact that 70% of home buyers said they were more inclined to buy a green home in a down economy than a non-green home.
  • 62% of all state governments have adopted green building policies (with 18 states coming on board in the last 3 years alone).
  • Studies show that two-thirds of buyers are paying attention to green homes and buildings; they recognize the link between green properties, cost savings, and healthy living.

Hi Christina.  The Green thing is not so much an issue here yet.  It should be but it's not.  There are very few builders building green here.  However there are several building Energy Star certified homes.  That counts a little toward a true green home at least.

Christina,

I read about you on Agentgenius.com today. Congratulations on your focus on green.  We need lots more of you in the real estate industry!

Our company WAV Group recently published a paper called Make More Green by Going Green.  It's all about helping real estate companies figure out ways they can save time and money while going green.  It talks a lot about creating paperless transactions since it only take 12 transactions to kill a tree. Our industry has killed over 2 million trees just since 2005 and has created billions of gallons of waste water. I share your passion for figuring out more environmentally-friendly ways to sell real estate.

I have attached a link for you to download the paper for your information. There is also a paperless savings calculator you can check out to see how much money you might be able to save.

Thanks again for your commitment.

I know green is in..it is a shame that it has the stigma of being too expensive to convert

Thatis a great set of statistics. I did not realize that two thirds of buyers were considering green features. That is very encouraging.
