Creating Real Change

While we debate the state of our nation’s health care and the economy, many wish we could change the path our country seems to have taken. And I’m not referring to Liberal or Conservative, Republican or Democrat, but to the failure of our belief in our collective selves. Many question the judgment of the majority and want to force quick change.

But change—major change—rarely comes quickly. It comes because we build strong foundations over time; and it begins with small steps, when we point our children toward the right path. While we may not see the benefits of great change, we can build the foundation.

If you are thinking one year ahead, sow seed. If you are thinking 10 years ahead, plant a tree. If you are thinking 100 years ahead, educate people.  Chinese proverb

We the people . . . vs. special interests or party line. What benefits all? Glad I am not a politician, to be great at it must be one of the hardest jobs. Live as a good example and be of benefit in your own area.

John--You always have a good way to making your point.  How true.  It reminds me of poster my daughter has in her kitchen with similar message.

John,

Good points. Too many people tend to "knee-jerK" in their reactions.

Change is here because Good People chose to do nothing, that is how the Nazi took Germany because the government preyed upon the poor and the weak and what good people were there wouldn't stand against the Nazis because the appearance of helping the poor and weak would have made them look bad. So in the name of help they were marched off to concentration camps.

Here in America we are accepting change under the disguise of helping the poor and weak but in reality it is turning us into the poor and weak, God help us all.

Terry - I can "knee-jerk" with the best of them, but try to limit the jerk part.

Charles - The next decade will probably bring changes that many can't imagine.  We'll see whether it's positive or not.
