WW2 Vets in Manassas

My husband, Arthur, is a WW2 Marine vet. He served with the 6th Marine Division in the South Pacific, Okinawa and China.

On Sunday, September 20 American Legion Post 10 in Manassas invited Prince William County WW2 vets to a luncheon. It's purpose was to prepare for a parade.

On Veteran's Day November 7, the City of Manassas will hold its' Inaugural Veteran's Day Parade from 11:00 AM to Noon. WW2 vets will be featured in the parade.

The last time veterans were in a parade in Manassas was 1911 when both Confederate and Union vets marched together as a sign of reconciliation. You may recall Manassas was the sight of two significant Civil War battles.

Please note the number of WW2 women represented in the photo - one was even a Marine mess sargent who served on Guam.

My husband says he served in WW2 to make the US safe for my later arrival -
he's the handsome devil who is #6 from the right in the back row.

We owe a great debt to all our vets, but the number of WW2 vets is dwindling more rapidly every day. Come out to Manassas on November 7 and proudly acknowledge the contribution of "The Greatest Generation"

My father-in-law was also a Marine and fought in WWII in the Battle of Okinawa.  He also served in the Korean War as well.  Hats off to Art for his service and for all that continue to serve.

Cindy  Too many people "honor" our vets and active duty military by cutting vital programs and our military defenses .  Karen

Karen--The first thing I noted in the photo was all the women, even before I read your post. I thought that it was the vets and their wives there were so many. Good that they are being remembered as my life would not have been the same without their service. As we have a new generation of Vets, we still need to honor those who served before.

Teri  There were many women in service in WW2 besides nurses - those who ferried planes across the ocean for example - our country would not be as great as it is without men and women willing to serve  Karen

Karen,  Nice to see that the WW2 Vets Men and Women! will be and are being honored in your area, including your husband!  They are a living connection to a very scary time in our country's and worlds' past.  My father was in the South Pacific as well and he was always very proud that he was able to step up and serve his country in a time of need.  He has sinced passed on (2000) but I always remember him when I read such things honoring Veterans of WW2.  Thank you.    Gloria

Karen I am aware your reports on Woodbridge are an integral part of your market strategy to be current on many facts throughout Prince William County. The obvious goal is to provide your clients with the very best possible representation and blog posting is an excellent method and may include posts about other interesting locations in our area
