Wordless Wednesday - Brentsville Union Church Circa 1874

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Real Estate Connections
From the time it was completed in 1874 until today the Brentsville Union Church was available for worship services by all local religious groups. The church is part of the 28 acre Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre. The church, 1822 courthouse, 1822 jail and 1922 one room schoolhouse are now owned and maintained by Prince William County.

Architectural lines in rural America during the 18th and 19th century were clean, symmetrical and functional. Their simplicity was the source of their beauty.

Even the decorative features of the windows and doors were understated.

Brentsville Union Church Entry

Before Arthur and I entered the sanctuary we knew we would see more of the style that was so typical of rural American Protestantism.

Karen, we have a little church that looks almost identical to this one. It was moved to a new location about 12 years ago and we watched. It is now part of a Methodist Church on Highway 17 here on Fleming Island.

There so much architectural history in Virginia and the east coast. Out here in the west, our buildings aren't very old in comparison.

Karen I am aware your reports on Woodbridge are an integral part of your market strategy to be current on many facts throughout Prince William County. The obvious goal is to provide your clients with the very best possible representation and blog posting is an excellent method and may include posts about other interesting locations in our area
