How to Digg Your Active Rain Blogs

By

Well, I guess I wasn't late to the party, after all! In an earlier post, I mentioned that Digg might be a great place to re-post blogs of interest. Bill Thomas asked about this, and I guess many are familiar with the site, but were unaware they could post blogs there.

Here is the Murphy Manual on how to Digg your blogs:

1. Register at www.digg.com

2. Submit the link to the Active Rain blog of interest.

3. Write a short synopsis of why you are recommending this article. Explain why it is cool.

4. Click submit.

Please don't ask me why it works; it just does. I posted a blog earlier today on Digg to a lukewarm reception (3 diggs). It was an experiment that worked, and that is a triumph. The feedback, though, is slightly better at Active Rain and you run less chance of being buried.

I think I registered once... but I can't find it so I will have to reregister for Digg...

I first read about Digg on Seattle's Rain City Guide.  I love reading the two young fellas there, Robbie and ??? the one making the face. They are a wealth of knowledge.

The more interaction we have between our blogs on ActiveRain and other sites out there, the better we'll fare on the search engines, as long as we're not duplicating content.

I wouldn't think there would be a duplicate content penalty if a blog were reposted on a news site such as this. The only danger of running into the traffic of a site like this is that you may get "buried." I was amazed that blog "articles" could make it in.

Roberta,

Yes, thanks for the info......  I am still learning about the process and such. Can a blog be too long? I just did my first blog yesterdsay and I am hoping to get some feedback from some experts in regards to the length and content.

Would you have time to look at it quickly? jbelonger@e-americanmortgage.com

thanks,

jeff  PS>..always appreciating your content and information.

Digg goes on the rapidly growing list of things to look into.  With all this blogging is there any time left for real estate?! :-)

Jeff: I like your last blog very much because it tells a personal story. Long "teaching" blogs that are directed to consumers generally don't attract much readership on Active Rain.

Also, try to break up your paragraphs into shorter ones. I think it makes for easier reading. I think you have much to add to this forum--and will find this community very willing to assist you in any way they can.

Thanks for sharing!

Tony: I have found market "pauses" to be a great time to revamp, recharge and find new ways of doing business. Blogging fell into my lap and is leading to other online ventures.

I see some agents second-thinking their real estate careers. These times of uncertainty will unsettle some--and energize others (to digg?!?!?)

The key is to only digg things that are of quality and that will pull in a broad audience. It also helps to have a few friends that can help get the digging started. If you can get your first 5-10 you have a much better chance of the post taking off.
