What makes an Active Rain blog one that others comment on?

As I read the blogs on AR, I am truly amazed of the quality of some of the posts. Perhaps we have an abundance of writers, English majors, journalists or communication majors on AR!

My posts seem rather dry: announcing a new listing, just solds ( to appear on Localism) Sometimes I'll bring up a little controversy ( Was Jim Wilson Right?, Was Ted Kennedy the greatest US Senator?) just to test the waters.

For all you AR bloogers who successulfy get 20 + comments on your posts, what is your process in preparing your well read blogs?

What are some tips for a "dry " blogger like me to make a blog that adds value to the AR community?

Joe - I read the headlines and a few obscure websites daily looking for interesting material, and I maintain a running list of 100+ potential blog topics.  I try to make my posts interesting, though I'm frequently not successful, and I sometimes throw in a "curve ball" just to garner attention.

AR has some great writers (I'd like to someday be in that group) and I read as many of their posts as possible for encouragement as well as enlightenment.

Joe I have a serious question for you.  Is what you want comments from other AR members on your blog or consumers who will call you?  If it is the second one then just keep writing about what your niche market wants to read.  Getting your keywords correct so that Google picks up your posts and don't worry whether anyone on AR comments.

Hi Joe - I don't worry about comments too much. With the volume of new content that hits AR each day, it can be difficult to catch member's attention. And even though the short-term reward of comments might seem nice, responding and reciprocating can take away time from lead generation and other revenue-oriented activities. Keep writing for consuers and your local market, and if you happen to get a few posts with lots of comments, consider that a bonus.

Howdy there Joe

I get alot more folks visiting and reading the info,at my little ole Blogging Homestead, than I do AR folks leaving comments. On my blog posts.

One way to get some more comments left on your blog posts, is to write replys to the folks that take the time to leave you a comment and to be sure to visit their blog posts, and leave a comment for them.

You always want to be yourself, and give your readers a wide variety of blog posts to choose from. Folks here at AR like to get to know us, just like our clients do.
