HDR photos, bracketed photos, fun with your cameras!

HDR photos, bracketed photos, fun with your cameras! I took my camera and tripod and went out in search of some good subjects for bracketed photos. Please understand not only is this concept new to me, but I am still learning my camera. (Pentax K200D) After reading the post by Mike Hendron about this, I downloaded the trial version of Photomatix Pro and gave it a shot. Unfortunately some of my photos are not usable as I changed one too many settings on the camera and they are too light to use without manipulating them prior to letting Photomatrix do it's magic. Plus it was a very gray day, which didn't help matters any. Long and short, I am still very very happy with what I have learned. Judge for yourself! And by the way, Photomatix Pro couldn't be easier, no joke.  I didn't even have to open the help file in order to use the program. (because this is a trial use of the program, you will notice there is a Photomatix watermark on the photos)

I admit, I used my own photo program (Acdsee) to tweak it after I was done as I already know how to use this program, but all in all, I am very happy with what I have learned in a few short hours.

I just checked out Mike's blog - cool stuff. THanks for sharing. I've bookmarked. It all makes sense. I guess the balance is changing the exposure to clarify but only to the point that you can't tell ... you know, like makeup is nice if you can't really tell its there? :)

Richard, I have much to learn with this technique, but I wanted to get it out there to encourage others like me to try it! Tweaking is sometimes a necessary evil. I tend to tilt to one side so they all have to be straightened, and if the colors are washed out or weak, or too dark, etc. I have something that I do most of the time too, a slight tweak. Probably due to my own flaws as a photographer. Thank you!

Hannah, too kind, LOL. I am a work in progress here!

Jim, the church is my favorite, but I do know with some more practice I can get much better. Thank you!

Liz, thank you very much. I am having fun! Now get out there and try it yourself, you too will be hooked!

Steve, LOL, you grew a moustache! Yes, it should, to me, look a bit too real, but real! I am just learning, so this is a work in progress.

Kathleen, yes indeed, check it out and try it out! Thank you!

Myrl, why thank you! I am having fun with this one.

George, LOL, in my dreams! Thank you.

Janna, time to move up and play around!

Debra, thank you so much. That is my favorite too. I hope to get back when the sun is out and I don't screw up the settings on the camera, LOL.

Dedra, check it out, the program is fun, and easy to use. Thank you!

Hey Andrea - Great work, as always!  I'm a Photoshop CS2 guy, myself.  I did some creative coloring on some photos from our Realtor Halloween Party tonight.  Watch for my blog about it.  HAPPY HALLOWEEN!   -Kent

Hi Andrea, I have a K100D.  I have not played with the HDR, but would like to.  Looks nice.  How much does that HDR software cost?

Hi Kent, thank you. I have never used Photoshop, probably would never leave my computer if I had it. I will wait for your photos!

Michael, why thank you! I am having fun with this for sure.

Doreen, the website says $99 I believe. Mike Hendron gave us a link to a website for a tutorial, in that tutorial is a coupon code for 15% off the purchase price. I wanted to test drive it and really like the simplicity of the program. In his comments he put a link to a free program he had used, I downloaded that too and you need a PHD to use it. Also, it caused a problem for the ACDSee program I use now, and even after removing it my program is still acting up.  Thank you!

Thanks Andrea for pointing me to Mike's post on this topic.  This is just what the doctor ordered.  I have been asking around to find out how to do this and here it is!

Well, you've got my attention. I always have problems with Zoey the Cool Cat sitting at the window watching her pet lizard outside.

Russel, LOL, that Zoey the Cool Cat is quite a character. She would look good in HDR, if you can't her sleeping so that she is not moving.... and use a tripod. I think you will be hooked once you try it. :D

Those pictures are quite stunning. Is it cheating, though, to use HDR, fusion, Photomatix, etc.? LOL

I have to head on out to my concert, but I hope you'll keep posting lost of new pictures.
