Your Hard Drive Is Going To Die!

Are you ready?

Are you ready? It isn't if but when....

I just spoke to another associate that had their computer hard drive crash on them.

Everyone knows it is important to back up your computer -- Just Do It!

Make a point to have a glass of wine, a good beer or a hot cup of java and take the time to copy your important documents to an external hard drive.  They aren't that expensive these days.

One important note -- most of you store your documents in the My Documents folder but Microsoft Outlook does NOT record their email and contact data files to the My Documents folder -- learn where they are and copy them over to or use the backup utility that Outlook has with the program.

Also -- don't forget those docuemnts you may have put on your desktop and copy them over to that hard drive.

And.... better yet -- store that external hard drive off site and in a different location than your computer in the event of a major disaster like fire, flood or earthquake --

Be ready otherwise you have no one to blame but yourself when you loose everything.  Take out that insurance policy and buy that drive and prepare for the inevitable!

Scott,

I use a USB enclosure and clone my entire laptop drive onto a spare. If the real one ever craps out, I can be completely back with operating system, applications and data in about five minutes.

Oh, so sadly true.  Hard drives will die.  And, then you will be so very remorseful.

Yes, true.  Hard Drive die and usually when you least expect it.  Thanks for the tip.  I'm probably due for a crash.  It's been two years.
