TORONTO'S CAVALCADE OF LIGHTS - NOVEMBER 28- DECEMBER 31 - NATHAN PHILLIPS SQUARE

The Cavalcade of Lights returns to Nathan Phillips Square for its 43rd year, (at Queen & Bay); and is presented by Scotiabank.

The 'party' starts at 7 p.m., on November 28, with the lighting of Toronto's Official Christmas Tree - fireworks - and live performances by:

- Steven Page

- Keisha Chante

- Matt Dusk

- Fritz Helder and the Phantoms

- Jully Black on December 5

At 8 p.m. there will be a spectacular fireworks display, followed by a skating party on the rink, with music by DJ Tony Sutherland.

Free concerts and skating parties will continue on Saturday nights in December, from 7 p.m.

If you're on your own (no date), don't worry.  Take your skates and head to Nathan Phillips Square.  It's a great way to meet people, make new friends, and have a really great time - FOR FREE.

Sylvie, I love light shows also.  They had an incredible one when we lived in North Caronlina. I'm not aware of any here.

What a spectacular looking event, Sylvie.  I think skating rinks are a great family event to be shared together.  How neat- fireworks, music, skating, Christmas tree lighting-you have it all.  What an event!!!

Ginger, it's so much prettier there ... lighting the Christmas tree, and the fireworks, and the skating parties to the sound of music ... I haven't been in a few years, but I plan on attending this year.

Marchel, it's about the best thing I like about Winter here. :)

Sharon, it's quite something; and there's free skating to music, every Saturday for the month of December. It's a beautiful spot in the Winter.  Come by.  I'll take you there. :)

Laura, and this one is a lot of fun, especially if you skate.

Marc, you have to go.  It's incredible.  If you have kids and they like to skate, take them.  They'll love it.  It's fun. It's beautiful.  It's free. :)

Good post and thanks for keeping up to date on all the things. I had no idea there was such a show.

Brian, when I was much younger, I couldn't wait to go there with my friends, either just hanging out, listening to music, or skating and watching the fireworks.  The Christmas Tree is huge and kids - young and old - love it.  It's a good spot for a date night too, and the price is right. :)

A fun event.  And you don't even have to hassle with parking your car.  You can take the subway to NFS from all over the city.  Plus, you can do all your Christmas shopping at the Eton Centre nearby.  A real Christmas event. :-)

Marcia, this is actually one of my favourite downtown events.  It really starts feeling like Christmas at that time.
