Your opinion requested - does the red type look OK to you?

By

The time is getting near for us to let our Apprenctices go.  Project Blogger is in it's final weeks, and so we need to step back and say,"Are we done?"  and if not, make those final advices.

It is difficult for me to "step back", and so I ask for your final suggestions.  Truth be told, I didn't like the red type from day one.  But while I have been cracking the whip on many, many things, I decided maybe it was just my personal preference and let it go.

So before we are "done" with the project, I ask your opinion.  I don't trust my judgment as it was beat into my head as a kid by the nuns that RED writing is disrespectful.  If you brought a note from home saying you were sick, and the only pen your Mom could find to write it with was a red pen, OMG!  You would think your mother was a harlot!  RED INK!  NO!  I remember getting a huge lecture as a very young child about writing in red ink being a HUGE no, no.  So it comes to no surprise that the red type bothers me, since I was traumatized into that opinion as a young child.

Take a look and tell me if it's just me.  I can't imagine putting that shade of blue with Red in any combination anwhere else. It could be the blue, that makes the red appear that it doesn't "fit".  I have an eye for staging and so color is an important factor, and the blending of colors.  I like red and white, red and black, red and navy blue.  But this shade of red and this shade of blue together?

You tell me?  Does the red type  look OK to you as captions and in the sidebar?  Well OK isn't quite good enough is it?  Does the Red type look GREAT to you?  If not, what color would YOU make it? Navy Blue or a very dark midnight blue?

Thanks for pointing that out.  I was at my chiro today and I checked my blog on his cheap computer (not that you have a cheap one) and it was RUST color on his screen too.  It looked heinous.  On my EXPENSIVE computers it reads RED.

I didn't like the rust and agree that we need to switch it up a bit.

Look at the bliss site  http://www.blissworld.com/ and tell me any thoughts.

Hi Kevin,

I do indeed have a cheap computer and I am darn proud of it LOL!  I stepped on my first laptop and broke the screen so I didn't want to invest in something that would possibly meet a similar end :-)

BTW, am I looking at the color scheme on the bliss site or am I looking at the products, because I got as far as the $45 legs and decided that I would indeed pay that to make my gams look as good.

So much to think about... who knew?

Take care,

Tisza

Kevin, I like the red on the bliss site but am having a hard time reading the red on your site. I'm not sure if it is the color or the font size. I would be interested to see the orange or maybe a golden orange. Might also work with the subconscious thought of Miami sunshine, beaches etc.

Another update: Here is the blue. I really like it but honestly, I feel like the red has more pop. What do you think?

Blissworld site looks like Carol Wright.  Or maye I can get some wax strips in industrial strength economy size.  Kinda bargain basement looking.  First reaction.  It looks like an AD.

A blog should not look like an AD.  You are not selling, you are talking to people.  RED POP is for ADS marekteing people and a blog is NOT an ad.

Brad, that new blue color is MUCH better.

And on my computer that green color that you have for the thin strip at the top and the bar that highlights the date of the post....what color is that supposed to be?  On my computer, it looks like a neon lime green!  It seems to clash big time!

On my computer that red looked rust to me too.  So not sure what the green color looks like on your computer or what it is supposed to look like.

I think that the blog looks okay.  The pictures really help to spice it up to keep the interest.  I will be considering this for my future blogs.

Kevin, ARDELL and I spent most of last night tweaking, trying colors and editing the blog. Thanks for the input and keep them coming! We are still working on a few edits here and there but I think the tweaked look is much better. A special thanks to ARDELL for burning the midnight oil and offering some great insight. She truly knows her stuff. Kevin had the great idea of using the lime green strip to separate each blog post. At first, I was sad to see the red go because it offered the "pop" but now that I see where this is going, I like this look much better. I think the bright green helps to give it that Miami lifestyle look. I also bumped up the font size of the body copy and headlines at their recommendation. I think it was a good call. Really increases readability! We are getting there!

LMAO @ Ardell.  She pulled up her house pics.....LOL

I don't like it.  You guys asked for opinions, I gave mine.  I don't like the neon lime green!!  It sticks out like a sore thumb.  Maybe that was the purpose.  I dunno.

No one else wants to pipe in here on the green.  Do the rest of you like it or not?

Becky,

I do think the blog green is a bit bright and neony.  The green in my house is from Lowe's in the "Beach House" paint section.  Beachy Green.  But don't you agree it's a little freaky that I had no say in the blog colors and they ended up matching my house!  Weird!

Ardell, I would use a shade of blue.  Blue is the color of sincerity.  Red has other unflattering thoughts.  Just my two cents worth!

Wow that's a pretty close match. I think Kevin's green is a little "louder"

Yes Ardell, it is a bit strange to have the colors match your house.  I do like the colors on your walls more than on the blog.  Not sure why.  Maybe cuz the green on the blog is kinda bright.

It really is a nice blog though.

LOL @ Kevin. Vomit

You guys still rawk!!
