Sylvie, I am sure it is very successful. Toronto has such a large Asian community to draw from.  I miss the cultural diversity of Toronto.  It is a good part of what makes TO so interesting.

Liz, it's too hard to go to everything... but it's great for students, because there's a lot of free stuff happening, and this Festival is quite cheap, considering how great the films are.

You should tell he to go to Nathan Phillips Square for the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, with live music and ice skating.  It's great.

Marcia, I'm so used to how diverse we are, that when I go to a smaller town in the outskirts, I almost feel out of place.  It's not as colourful/diverse as around here (I'm practically downtown).  I really like it here.

Thanks for posting this, it really is a great film fest. Tonight it opens at the Bloor Cinema with Overheard, a big-brother-esque cop drama from the creators of Infernal Affairs (which Scorsese based The Departed). And on Friday there's a rare screening of the only surviving silent martial art film from the era!

Emer, thanks for the info.  I didn't know about the martial arts film.  I know people who would be interested.  Thanks again. :)
