Sunset Over the Pacific by Myrl Jeffcoat

Early in the morning, the day after Thanksgiving, my daughter and two of my grand-kids picked me up to visit John Steinbeck country in Monterey California.  Author John Steinbeck is popular to many Californians as he provided written imagery to Monterey and the Salinas Valley during the Great Depression, with his books, "The Grapes of Wrath" - "Tortilla Flat" - and "Cannery Row."

We lodged in the Monterey "Cannery Row" area, visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium, The Wharf, and other sites, while also visiting Capitola, Santa Cruz and the Carmel Mission.

I'm exhausted this evening after just arriving home - but exhausted in a GOOD way!  I'll finish processing the pictures, and post a little series of photo blogs in the next few days.  I hope you all enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday and weekend.

I take pictures for the purpose of remembering fond times.  I do not impose copyright restrictions on this photo, so you may feel free to use, or distribute as you wish.  However, should you need a Real Estate Professional in the Greater Sacramento area, I hope that you will contact me by email or by visiting my website www.myrljeffcoat.com - Thank You!

John - Thank you for your kind words!  I'm hopeful your family had a great holiday as well!

Lee and Carol - Because I live inland, I always feel lucky to see a sunset like this one over the Pacific.

Pat - It really was a wonderful three days.

Sara - Thank you so much for your kind words. . .I'm glad you enjoy the pictures.

John - The diagonal "shoreline" is actually dunes that have various grasses and greenery growing on them.  I thought it was interesting to find them that way.

Zane - It was a wonderful time, there's no doubt about that!

Steve - You have hit on one of my great frustrations in life.  I never feel like I have fully captured in picture what I actually saw!

Gary - Where were you at?  Monterey would have been a long long way from Texas:-)

Terrie - I continually kept saying to myself as the exhaustion set in, "Gal, you aren't as young as you use to be". . .:-)

Rich - The escallating foreground was caused by the sand dunes with growing grasses and pampas.  It really was lucky finding that scene.

Sharon - It was a perfect scene, at the perfect moment just before the sun dunked on the horizon.

Paul - You always have the nicest things to say. . .I'm glad you enjoy the photos.

William - Yes, I have returned to the land of the living in Sacramento!  I crashed and burned shortly after arriving home, but seem to be back to normal now:-)

John - When I was snapping that picture I was thinking of you, and how fortunate you are to live where you do!  Like I have said before, life for you is a beach!

Steve - I hope your cold is better.  My daughter was suffering a cold while we were gone, but seemed to be on the mend by the second day or so!

Craig - My camera is a point and shoot Canon 200 IS.  I don't think I'm ready to run with the big dogs quite yet!  I have posted it in the "Photos" and the "ActiveRain Photo Blogger" groups though.

Toula - I'm glad you like it!

Debi - Every once in awhile the gods conspire to put me in a place that makes capturing a bad picture nearly impossible. . .This was one of those times.

Myrl, That picture is stunning.  I've been in Monterey and I was able to watch a sunset in Carmel.  It had to have been the nicest I've ever seen anywhere!

Carole - There are some really wonderful sunsets along the California Coast.  But, I must admit the most gorgeous sunset I have ever witnessed was at Kona Hawaii. . .and I didn't have a camera with me!

Myrl,

Very nicely done. The sun is centered horizontally in the picture and thew water and land help to frame it. :)
