Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago

Pacific Garden Mission located in Chicago has been helping people struggling to survive since 1877.  What started out as a small mission to aid the homeless has now grown into a huge project with many, many different ministries within one building including:

  • "Unshackled"  an award winning radio drama series
  • Outreach Program and Bible Programs for men, women, and children
  • Career Development Program which includes help with job placement
  • Medical and Dental Care
  • and so much more!

Pacific Garden Mission's home is a 150,000 square foot "green" facility located on Canal Street in Chicago.  It's impossible to tell or show you all the things that PGM manages to accomplish in this post.  Their website provides so much more information.

One thing I can tell you is that the most important step they take in helping the homeless is showing the love of Christ to them.  It is not only demonstrated in the things they do on a daily basis but also through their bible studies.  One of the ministries that has resulted from this is the PGM Revival Team.  The team travels to churches to sing and give testimonies of their relationship with Jesus Christ.

This coming Sunday, December 13, 2009, you have a chance to meet and also listen to The Pacific Garden Mission Revival Team in Valparaiso, Indiana.  They will be at Faith Evangelical Bible Church during our morning service which starts at 9:15 AM.  Faith Evangelical Bible Church is located at 305 East 400 North in Valparaiso, Indiana.

Diane - Their new facilities sound amazing.  I'd like to take one of their tours sometime.  They do help many hurting people.  Thanks for stopping by.

As a  new believer in the late 1970's, I usually hsd Christian-Family Radio on and would listen to Unshackled every night. To hear one miraculous spiritual conversion from the radio broadcast would keep you Christ centered thru-out the rest of the day!!! What a blessing they have been !

Michael - I'm glad you found Unshackled on the radio.  I was talking to some of the men in the PCF choir on Sunday morning and they said very few people in the Chicago area listen to the program.  Most of their support comes from all other parts of the US.

Have a Merry Christmas.
