Heather Panacott helped me put together my ads.

It is personalized with whatever interests me. Naturally my first ad was for the energy efficient light bulb.

There are couple magazine for Realtors out there. Most supply all the content and put your picture on the cover and back inside and outside cover. You can customize, write articles and add advertisements. As your advertisements grow, you can add wrappers inside the magazine. Mine costs 3.50 per copy including postage.

WARNING for potential users of the American Lifestyle Magazine "service" - This magazine locks new users into a 10 quarter 'subscription', at a minimum of $150/qtr.  If you try and cancel before the end of the subscription period (which is never explained beforehand), they charge you a $450.00 "early termination" fee.

Their business model seems to be built on mis-leading Realtors on the initial order, then charging outrageous fees once you find out and try and cancel.

If you use their service and it is working for you, then you will have no problems.  Just beware if you ever want to quit!

Shawn, businesses utilize early termination fees because their model keeps up front and on-going costs low to be made up and the completion of a contract period. So, if the user wishes to terminate the contract early, and the business can not see the contract through, they'll lose money (because due to low costs all the money is made at the back end of the contracted period), and I don't know too many businesses that can operate at a lose.

Anyway, I found this sight becuase my agent--who I haven't heard from or seen since I bought my home 3 years ago--began sending me American Lifestyle. I love the content, and appreciate that they thought of me when deciding who to send the magazine to. My agents was new to the business when I decided to have her help me buy my first home. This token of appreciation has brought her back into my favor.

This is a horrible experience with American Lifestyle Magazine.  They are very very friendly until they think they "have you".  After a marketing rep came to our office I signed up for a special offering.  What I signed was not fully filled out  and today I received a copy of it for the first time.  I know I never saw it because the handwriting was horrible. Although the rep promised that we did not need to begin for several months, I am now being told the "initial offer expired" and an additional $200 setup fee was charged to the account.  My wife (who didn't sign anything) needs to dispute the charge because I can't.  I am not a signer on that account.  Whatever it takes to get my initial $100 back from these thugs, I am willing to do.  Beware of these people.

Bill, I had a similar experience, but have to admit it was my own fault.  The form that I and other agents in my office filled out did say the $100 was based on getting my account started in the first month or so, and I signed it.  Needless to say I was more than bothered by them charging my account without discussing it with me.  But they went and put it towards my mailing, I was going to have to pay them anyway. At the end they weren't trying to rob me, just trying to get things started.  Don't have a complaint about them since.

This is a top-flight company. Although I've only been in the real estate business for 4 years, I have had many positive responses from people that I've mailed this magazine to...also picked up 3 listings in the last year alone. More than worth the money if you plan on being serious and running your business...like a business.

I agree with several Real Estate Agents with regards to American Lifestyle's business practices.  I too had my account charged for the $100 set up fee without my final decision on the product.  (I requested a copy to be sent to me so that I was able to see it, touch it, feel it) before I decided to go forward.  I was treated very poorly, was never refunded (they called it a setup fee - FOR WHAT?)  and though I decided to go forwarded with their product, I made a quick turn around due to their attitude when I expressed the fact I thought this was bad business.  You lost a client Lifestyle Magazine and if I based my business on how you handle yours...I would not be a successful Broker.

I discourage any Agent from using their services, as we work much to hard to have our money taken on something they did not deliver on.  We deserve the respect and treatment we offer our own clients.  NOT FOR ME.

I was unable to receive a refund when contacting my credit card company.  American Lifestyle refused it.  My Questions is:  What services did I recieve for my $100 Dollars?  Where is this item of value? Where is the Form/Contract I signed for the Go Ahead Anyway?   A Computer Account Set up Fee??  Are you kidding me?  FOR WHAT.  For something I changed my mind on therefore never received?

AMERICAN LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE NOT FOR ME!!  EVER!

Be wary of this company!! They will promise you the world in these high pressured sales tactics, stating that there is no obligation and what not (even when directly asked the question, at a presentation!). Yet when they have your credit information down and have left, you find that there is a 10 issue commitment , after your firs trial run (a window of 2 weeks between the delivery and deciding). As stated in earlier posts, there is a 450$ termination fee, and the 100$ set up if non refundable and increases to 300 if setup isnt complete in 4 weeks. Some of the customer service agents are great, but some can be a nightmare! I had one named Liz (droll, troll, whatever) pretty much laughing at me over the phone when I told her this piece was not working out, pretty much unsympathetically saying tough s***.... after an evaluation with my co workers, and polling clients, we will deny any more scams, I mean presentations, at our office, due to the lack of results, unjustified cost, and overall complaints about the terms and service. A minimum of $150 (50 clients) for 10 issues of a crappy magazine? Now I'm buying more localized print media AND online marketing at the same price!
