Thanks Jim.  I did have the beach to myself but I was bundled up pretty well, although it was too difficult to work my camera without taking one of my gloves off!  John

Hello Kathy, the Columbia River is rather wide at this spot, and makes a great scene for capturing Mt. Hood in the distance.  The early British explorers thought this to be a 16,000' high peak at the time (although it is truly just over 11,000') since the river here is only about 50' above sea-level the "base-to-peak" spread is dramatic.  Have a Happy and over-the-top prosperous New Year!  John
