Show Me Your Google Map!

Real Estate Agent with Integrity Real Estate Group

I've played with Google Maps and kept trying to figure out a great use.  Today I figured out one.  I'm working with an Army family relocating to the area from Fort Bragg.  Today was the day to see if we could find the right place.  We needed to find a place with public transportation options nearby due to the husband's work location and schedule.

Of course as we were driving around I was pointing out bus stops, commuter lots, slug lines and metro stations.  By the end of the afternoon we had two top contenders but they were very confused about the location in reference to the commuter options.  So while they headed back to the hotel to soak it all in I made up this quick little map for them

It isn't elegant but within a few minutes of receiving the map they called and said thank you!  We are meeting tomorrow to put together an offer on one of the two finalists.  YEA!

PS if you aren't from the DC area Slug Lines are not a place to get beat up.  They are a place to grab a free ride into various points in the city.  Drivers swing through designated areas and pick up riders so they can hop on the HOV lanes.  It is the ultimate in safe hitchhiking.

Great idea, Cindy!  I'll have to use that with my clients as well.  BTW, I think I've done business with you in the past.

Cindy, how do you put the arrows in? Are they an option in Google maps?

I'm with Sue, I know Google has some cool icons, but not a cool as yours.  Were you able to add icons, or did you do this in a photo editing program?  Sherry

That's really cool.  I just created a google map with some things of importance to my local market.  Then I added my local listings.

I wanted to place my map here but I didn't see how I would do that.  I think it will be a really cool addition to my website.  Can you help with this?

Thanks, Tom

Sue-if they are an option in google maps I haven't found them yet.

Kevin & Shery-you are correct I saved the map and then add the icons through another program.

Tom-I'll send you an email with a what I am doing with the maps and see if it will work for you.

Great post!  Too bad google maps doesn't just include the Slug sites!  You could make a fortune by selling maps with Slugs to DC agents who wander around Prince William!

Well there is this map on the official Slug Lines Website.  In this case I wanted to show their house choices in relation to specific slug lines.  This map of course is much more complete view of the area.
