How 2 Get More Views on Facebook Marketplace

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Andrew Realty Serfvices

By now you might have heard that you can post listings to Facebook Marketplace at no cost.  I want to share an easy way to get more people to see your listings.

You can post your listings on Facebook Marketplace either through Facebook itself or through Oodle.  The default display lists items for sale according to the latest time they were posted.

Facebook Marketplace

Here's the tip:  Every 24 hours Facebook lets you move your property back up to the top of the list!  All you have to do is log into your Facebook account, pull up your listings on Marketplace and click on Promote to Top of Results.

Promote Your Listing To The Top of FaceBook Marketplace

I know everyone wants to know about concrete results and I can't point to any yet, but my latest listing has had over 450 views on Facebook and we're getting many showings on the property.

Deb,

Thank you for the Facebook Marketplace info. I will give it a try. I'm just experimenting with FB, and it's great to know about this advertising resource for listings.

Definitely give it a try - after all, what's to not like about free advertising on a medium that is extremely popular!

Great Tip.  I'll recommend this to the agents I work with.  I think it's not about how many sites you get your listings on, but rather having them on the best sites.  If this site grows are fast as Facebook did, I think it will be a very useful resource for agents.

Kim - what I like is the marketplace is part of Facebook itself, so people are already going there.

Hi Deb,

I've been looking into this as well, but it seemed like we would get penalized by Facebook for advertising our listings...see this article:

http://www.futureofrealestatemarketing.com/facebook-doesnt-like-realtors

It was written a year ago or so, but I know I've been warned not to put too much "business" inventory on FB.  Curious as to if you knew if this was not an issue anymore, or what your thoughts were.?

Thanks!

Foster

Awesome tip, Deb and thanks for sharing!  I love Marketplace on Facebook but I have never used it for listings - I may have to look into it.

Foster I'm glad you brought up that question.  I can only assume that a year has mellowed Facebook's view of agents posting listings in the real estate section of Marketplace.  They even have a relationship with Oodle so that any classified ads placed in Oodle can be syndicated to Facebook Marketplace.

My pleasure LeesaB!

Hi Deb,

Curious as to whether you post more than one listing on FB? I tried to do that and they are forcing me to use Oodle Pro to do this.  ($25/month) Is that what you do?

Thanks,

Foster

Hi Foster,  I am using a trial of Oodle Pro at the moment.  Thanks for brining it to my attention that FB foreces you to use it in order to post multiple properties.

Sorry you get to post 250 listings at 25 per month I just checked it. and there is a deal if you pay a year up front you get it at a discount 180 upfront which equals to 15 per month. Now I post rentals and I see it free I click free ad and its free.

now they changed it again I was just about to pay when now it is back to 10 listings for only 25 per month. For me not worth it.

Ivan - that's why I grabbed the deal when I saw it.  You normally get better rates when you pay for a year in advance.
