I was asked recently why I sell residential real estate if I am also a commercial real estate agent and that I should stick with one or the other!
At the time I just listened and took the comment in just knowing that I would have a juice topic to blog about here on activerain.
"Should buyers or sellers be seeking out agents with both commercial and residential real estate experience over strictly residential agents?
In this market I actually think that agents with commercial real estate experience might even do a better job for their residential clients then strictly focused residential agents can do. Why you ask? Well first of all the days of just selling emotion are out the window! Buyers and sellers of residential real estate are wanting more advice and are seeking investment oriented agents to help them make wise decisions in their real estate investments. Lets face it rich or poor real estate is a significant investment and will be a contributing factor to a persons long-term financial success.
Commercial agents might have a leg up when it comes to looking at a property with financial goggles and understand how a property might fit in better with someones financial plan. By the way every agent is different and brings with them their own personal knowledge and good business sense. So I am not speaking as a whole when it comes to commercial or residential agents..clearly there are some commercial agents I would never choose to do residential with and residential agents I would never do commercial with!
I think it is important to have a good understanding of both disciplines and especially in today's market to hone your financial analysis skills by taking appropriate classes and educating oneself.
At www.InvestFortMyers.com we handle both residential and commercial real estate and treat all real estate like and investment! We also throw a little emotion into it as well..hack who wants to live in a home with no emotional attachment!
So what's your opinion?
