Night Sky in Cary, NC

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Realty Arts

I told my wife I needed a tripod for shooting houses. And I do. I think I needed it for other purposes, too. The sky was dappled with clouds passing through tonight, and I just had to try to take some shots of it.

I can't do much with the moon. I will one day. But tonight, I was just loving the light that seemed hungry to touch all those clouds passing through.

Very Cool! It is almost eerie to see the moon like that. Thank you for sharing.

Using a tripod makes a world of difference when shooting houses as does sufficient lighting.

Great shots Mike... and I love the slide show tool from Flickr. I am actually a cosmology buff myself. I worked in astrophysics at NASA as an undergraduate student.

Chris,

Thanks!  And you are most welcome!

Wayne and Linda,

I can't hold a camera to get night shots.  It is just a waste of effort.  It takes too long for the camera to write the data.

Debi,

It does, doesn't it?  Unfortunately, it is a precursor to a winter storm, we are being told.

John,

Thanks!  Do you do night shots?  I think it takes a whole 'nother set of gear.

Hi Mike,

What pleases me is not whether you got the best pictures of the moon and sky. What matters more is that you want them. That you are aware and appreciate and want to share your experience. We are all at varying levels of understanding, capability  and overcoming the challenges of creative photography. But it all starts with wanting to capture something and then share the story. That to me best explains what photo blogging is.

William,

Thanks, and I think you have caught my perspective well.

Terry Bonnie,
I'm glad you enjoyed them, and you are quite welcome.

Karen,
Thanks.  Learning all the time how light works, and night time is definitely different.

Tony,
Thank you!  I made my wife put on a sweater and step outside to see the sky.  It was striking.

Nevin,

It does seem appropriate for Pink Floyd.

Jim,

I'm going to try to get some shots before SheWhoMustBeObeyed decides it is time to loosen up with the snow shovels.

Marchel,

Thanks! These clouds ushered in a cold front with the clearing, and then our current "yuck weather."

Absolutely beautiful Mike! I've been intrigued with the moon lately myself...something about a winter moon and impending snow...hope you didn't miss the full moon last night!

Note to Mrs. J., Mike NEEDS a tripod!

SarahGray,

Thanks!

To be clear, Mrs. J is my biggest fan. She and I reached a tripod accord a couple of months ago. She has seen the benefits firsthand since then.
