23 Down, A Zillion More to Go...

23 Down, A Zillion More to Go...
Another day. I stand and watch my Wii avatar puff up like some strange Atlantic blow fish as my daily weight and BMI are calculated. My only consolation? I no longer have to dodge the flying buttons and the console no longer says, "One at a time, please."

Like millions of Americans, years of neglect, poor diet, and lack of exercise has put me in an area where I too am in for the fight of my life. The battle of the bulge was not fought in Europe. For many of us, it is being fought daily here in our own households
.

"Baby, come back", is the call I hear from the fast food joints I used to frequent. Crap shoved to me through a window, has now been replaced by the taste-bud tantalizing medley of celery sticks, broccoli heads and baby carrots - Yum! Yum! And, let's not forget the cardboard and ketchup tasting low cal pizzas.

No pain - no gain seems to be worth it as I watch the pounds slowly melt away. Who knows, maybe I will become one of those biggest losers too.

Michael...there are so many good low cal and/or low fat recipes that you really don't have to eat the ketchup and cardboard.  In a while, your tastebuds will adjust and the burgers, fatty pizzas, etc., won't even be appealing.  You will yearn for a fresh pear or a crisp apple.

Good for you Michael!  I never deprive myself of anything, well usually not, but I work out daily and really do try to eat healthy most of the time.....but, I love some fast food too once in awhile!

Micheal, I need to do this myself....too many fast food drive-throughs as we are rushing from one appointment to another.

It's amazing how age brings on the pounds and bad habits as well.  Our metabolism slows down but our eating habits increase.  Too many all-you-can-eat buffets, fast food drive-thrus, etc.  Where does it end?  Good luck on your venture to decrease.  I need to give up about twenty myself.  Have a great week.

Michael, What's the saying?  If I'd known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself :)  I walk the track for exercise and then go and have a happy ending sundae as a reward!  I'm far from overweight but I have such high cholesterol :(

Michael - your energy level will increase dramatically as you have to drag around less weight. It will be a good summer for you.

I watch a lot of exercise programs. Does that count when trying to keep fit?

Michael, the constant battle. Your post was very tongue in cheek funny. I know you would prefer a rib, but you only get tongue...hahaha...the aging body I heard all those years about, is upon me as well. Who knew?!!!

Michael.....when you hit 40 the body starts to change.  When I can, I watch the "Dr. Oz show".  He provides some great ways to lose weight, what to eat, etc.
