I’ve been thinking about my facebook page a lot lately.  You see I have over 100 “fans” of TheValuePagesGroup.com on facebook, but I have hardly any participation on my facebook page.  I know that people read, or perhaps scan the information posted there, because many times it comes up in actual conversations with my connections.

More fans, participations...hmmm. Have tried big door prizes like sea cruises, timeshare at ski resorts as a little bribery, bait to visit and play?

Andrew, No I haven't, but that sounds like a pretty smart idea.  Any ideas on who I should talk to to get the ball rolling?

Jason,

Thanks for the informative post. I always learn from other AR members. I will keep looking here for more ideas. Prospect interaction is key to conversion.

Jason, put your picture on your profile.  People want to work with you, not the green knight!  http://activerain.com/blogsview/1463284/do-you-have-a-profile-picture-can-i-see-it-

Yes, I notice that people don't interact as much as they used to.  I don't know if it's novelty or maybe even the time of year....

Walter - Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!

Vic - You mean you're ready to give me money and my picture is stopping you?!  Maybe you didn't click the link to read the rest of the post on my blog.  There's several pictures of me there and if you want to see what my mug looks like without the magic of photoshop, there's also the video in the sidebar above.

But to set aside the topic of this post and address your concerns: I know you're probably just trying to be helpful in your own way.  The sad part is that you can't please everybody all the time.  I've had an undoctored avatar up before, but the experts say that big brands need unified branding...so I had to think about what was more important, people recognizing my face or my logo.  My logo is more important, so I just had the logo up for a while.  Then I had a lot of unsolicited advice telling me that people want to see my face and connect with me on more of a personal level.  The above avatar is the result of me trying to meld the two ideologies and inject some of my own creativity.  It's my real face, just turned green with some of my corporate branding added in.  I'm sorry you don't like it.

On my own side note, be careful about linking to your blog posts in your comments on other people's blogs.  Apparently that's against the ActiveRain TOS and I once got my wrist slapped for making that mistake.

Jill - I really think that we're all getting overloaded with "connections" and "friends" and "followers" to the point that no voices are discernable from the noise of the crowd, which is kind of sad.  Thanks so much for your comment!

Sheila, you know I'm a fan of Staged So Right on facebook!  Your fan page is actually one of only 4 that I have programmed in to appear on my facebook app on the iPhone.  Thanks for joining The Value Pages Group, BTW!
