Wireless Backup System with Wireless Router

If you have been thinking about upgrading your computer backup system or wireless router this topic may be of interest because the Time Capsule can do both at once and more.  This dynamite tech tool will work on both the Mac and PC platform and what is even cooler is that it will also work with your iPhone, iPod Touch and even the Apple TV box.  You may be wondering what the Time Capsule can do for you so here is a quick list:

  1. It is a wireless n router with a long rangeApple Time Capsule
  2. USB port for print sharing and network HD
  3. Guest network for sharing wifi with friends
  4. Super simple setup and easy configuration
  5. Wifi protected access and built-in firewall
  6. 1 TB or 2 TB hard drive with wireless backup
  7. Use it to back up your entire computer
The Time Capsule is an amazing piece of technology.  What truly makes it a unique product is it's simplicity and ease of use.  Today so many technology tools have a steep learning curve and often require the help of a skilled technician but I didn't find this to be the case with the Time Capsule.  The directions were simple and straight forward and setting up the wireless password took me longer to think up a new password then to type it into the setting.  It works so well that I purchased a second one for my real estate office.

You may be asking yourself if you need to go out and purchase one of these Time Capsules right away.  The honest answer is NO.  But if you not backup your data religiously I do not think you can afford to be without one.  This product replaces your wireless router, your backup system and also gives you the ability to share a USB printer.

Sam,

Very cool device! What does it cost? Under $200?

It sounds like a great idea, but even 2 Gig's is almost nothing these days. You can get that and more in a USB-driven 'thumb' drive. I have some individual programs that use nearly a 'Gig' of space. Are you sure the Time Capsule is only good for a max. of 2 Gig's? (I guess I should look it up...)

John - Great point and I tweaked the initials.  I have a 1 TB at home and a 2 TB for my office network.

Mary - Linksys routers work very well and I actually have used them before but switched to the Apple model and like it much better because of the additional features.

Sam, good point. Have a couple of macs at home and they all have Time Machine on and backing up to the capsule. There are many PC users and they can substitute the Time Machine with some automatic backup program that comes with the drive.
