Old Signs In Downtown Bryan Texas

By

I love going to the downtown area in Bryan. Not only does it bring back many fond memories but the revitalization there has made it a great place to go for a night out, lunch, or just a peaceful walk . There are still a few of the old hand painted signs on the sides and rears of many of the antique buildings in downtown Bryan.

We actually bought garden seed from the company in this building back in the late 1970's. The business is no longer there but the sign remains me of the experiences we had there. I can still remember the smells in this old feed store.

Trey, love the photo. We still have an old feed store by where we use to live here in Redding. It has been there since the '70s and it still does business much the same way I'm told. MacArthur, CA has changed the way they do business. They are mostly into the big equipment for farming and everyting from toasters to western sadles and boots. It is quite a place to go. They are David's clients and we get to go see them now and again! Loved the photo. I put some up of MacArther today!

Richard:  Nice to preserve this hand painted sides of buildings.  It definitely conveys a small town feel.

Trey - There is something so nostalgic and wonderful about old signs painted on buildings.  Especially when they are in your hometown.

Trey,

The paint still appears very good and easy to read.  We have some old buildings with painted signs on the side that are becoming quite faded.

Great photo of it.

A friend of mine calls these ghost signs, a reminder of the past.  I like seeing them.

Isn't it funny the things that we remember, like the smell of the old feed store?  Your comment reminded me of sitting watching my dad feeding the cattle on the farm.

The old signs are so interesting to see.  I love the history in them.
