Monday's Photo.......

One of my favorite, yet under appreciated singer-songwriters of the 20th Century was Chris LeDoux.  I know that his style of music didn't gel well with a lot of people, and he went largely unnoticed until he was included in the lyrics of the Garth Brooks hit, "Much Too Young, To Feel This Old".  He was a World Champion Rodeo Rider and penned many Country/Western Songs.  I thought immediately of his song the "Call of the Wild" this morning when Darcy and I were out photographing properties.

Storm clouds are building above the timber line
The lightning’s flashing across the mountain side
The thunder’s rollin’ down the canyons of his mind
Somewhere beyond the great divide
The bugle of the bull elk echoes through pines
The north wind moans her lonesome lullaby
He hungers for the freedom of an eagle as she flies
Somewhere beyond the great divide:

What beautiful country, and a great song as well. Love the lyrics. Unfortunately, I'm not at all familiar with this artist.

Lovely scenery.  We are just getting our first snowstorm of the season.  Just when I thought spring may be coming and it was only going to snow in the U.S. this year.  Guess it's our turn.

I'm so itching to get out there to get some photos of the snow laden trees but this darn broken ankle is stopping me cold.

Margo, Thanks for stopping and commenting.  Darcy keeps telling me that Chris LeDoux is an acquired taste, so not everyone will appreciate his music like I do.

Ann, we were having a nice warm spell, but this weekend's storm ended that!

Diane, Thank you!

Jenny, I am surprised that it is so late in the year for your first storm, or is it that unusual?  Take care of that broken ankle!

Scott, thanks, I am afraid that the photo didn't really do justice to what the eye was seeing!

Nice lyrics and a beautiful photo. I suspect it won't be too long before the snow is all gone. After all, spring is just around the corner.

Hi Tony and Darcy,

A very nice photo and I can how Chris and his music might have popped into head. BTW, I looked for the Bull Elk but I think he was hiding behind that big bush on the left, :-). Looks like it is still very cold there.

One of my sons had the pleasure of seeing Chris in concert before he passed.  this son is NOT a CW music fan, but became a fan of Chris!  He said he was about as real, humble and funny as a guy could be.  He let me listen to the CD, (I am not particularly a CW fan either) and I have to say, I liked it! I can see why those lyrics popped into your head, and why you were inspired! I know that the camera doesn't do justice, because our mountains majesty cannot be captured either, but good try!

Cheryl, I loved watching Chris live.  I went to several of his concerts, I remember one that cost, I think $5 a person (when the main stream acts were charging $25), and he was on stage for nearly 2 1/2 hours.  I loved his music and I agree with your son's assessment, I too, found him to be a funny, humble man with the incredible ability to tell a story with a song.  Thanks for commenting!

Bob, it was a pretty wild day as far as what the clouds were doing!

Lynn, that is one of the nice things about storms, the air is always clean and in the winter crisp also.

Jim, thanks, I appreciate Chris and his songs!
