Friday the 13th is viewed by some as an ominous day, a day of superstition and mysticism. Not for 15 lucky college students who have already begun their quest for higher education.  At an awards ceremony for the Contra Costa Association of  Realtors (CCAR) Scholarship Foundation held at the Blackhawk Country Club Friday afternoon these 15 college students received scholarships totaling $47,500  The purpose of the scholarship is to help students whose intelligence and qualities of leadership make them assets for the future good of our community.  The scholarship assists students obtain a quality education and is designed to perpetuate high standards of professionalism in the real estate industry.

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

Have a serious commitment to a career in real estate, business or finance.

  • Completed one year of full time college study and currently attending an accredited college or university
  • Enrolled at the time of application in a minimum of twelve units.  At least one course must be real estate, business or finance related.
  • Students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and be a resident of Central Contra Costa County.

The CCAR Scholarship Foundation was established in 1967 and is funded by charitable donations and bequests given by Realtors, Realtor Affiliates, companies and corporations, individuals and former scholarship recipients.  To apply for a scholarship and find out more about the application process, visit the CCAR Scholarship web site http://www.ccarscholarship.org/
