What Portion of the Pie Should Social Networking and Blogging Make Up in Your Business

By

Matthew Dollinger is a great business coach. He shoots videos of his "word of the day" so to speak from his car. He spoke on a topic many of us are very familliar with by now.

How much of your business should be blogging and social networking? We can get really wrapped up in the whole business from social network stes such as Active Rain, Facebook, Twitter etc. To the point that let's be honest, we could quite literally focus 8 hours a day every day on internet business (our website, blogs etc) and still not touch the tip of the iceberg of what's out there.

Some businesses spend thousands and thousands of dollars to pay SEO companies and social network companies to promote their business. To get them to rank in the search engines. Then you have the individual business owner trying to compete with those that can afford companies to do the work for them.

By the end of the day you can have completely ignored your database, your other networking sources and for real estate agents things like open houses etc.

Matthew Dollinger recently met with a client that realized is business DROPPED significantly the year he focused more on internet and social networking sources rather than good ol fashioned database management and other forms generating leads. See his video below to hear his take on the whole matter.

Hello, nice post.  It is always a question of balance.

This question is something I think we will all wrestle with more and more. You always have to ask yourself: what sells houses?

It seems like the social networks demand much of our time... way too many requests for our attention. It can become overwhelming- being swamped with e-mail and requests- like mentioned before and again... moderation is the key.

It's the time factor. The internet can so easily eat up way too much time.

Good point about balance. You can get exhausted with the internet and social media strategies. Keeping things in perspective and not drinking ALL of the social networking kool-aid is a wise approach.
