Don't hire a friend or family member just because they have a license. Hire the best person for the job. Interview a few Realtors to find the right one for you. Ask how they plan on marketing your home and the results they have experienced. If you had a $500,000 legal problem wouldn't you hire the best attorney you could afford? If you want to sell your home it must be staged. Staging allows your home to stand out among the competition.  It highlights the fantastic features and downplays anything negative while selling a lifestyle that buyers can connect with.  A good home stager comes with references, can share statistics of similar properties they have staged, and will know how to target the buyer of your property. They are a great resource for painters, electricians, carpet cleaners, plumbers, and any other service provider you could need.

True statements all.  I learned the hard way about not listening to my Realtor.  The property in question is still in my name.  It is now a rental in Indianapolis.  But what are you going to do?  I have found you can't save people from themselves.

Kathy - Sometimes I work with homeowners who don't listen to the suggestions I make. I wonder why in the world did they pay me to be there and why would they not want to get the most money out of their house and sell quickly.
