First Time Home Buyers Experience ALL Sorts of Emotions

By
Real Estate Agent with Reliant Realty in Nashville, TN TN License# 00232013

Do you remember the feelings you experienced when you bought your first home?  I Do!  Do you recall the Fear of Failure, the wrenching of your gut, the nervousness of doubt, and the anticipation of failure?  Do you remember questioning whether you should really try this?  I Do!

If you never bought a house, you probably remember the feeling you experienced when you were trying to gain the nerve to ask that special girl for a date, or as a girl--that anxt of trying to catch his eye?  Remember saying, "I'll just die if..."

We all have had those moments, and LIVED to celebrate that success.  Buying your first home is a "Success Story waiting for you!"  Success is the conclusion to a determined start, a relentless pursuit, and a faithful follow-through!   I remember my dad's never-flagging confidence that "You can do anything you put your mind to, but you have to put your mind to doing it."

Remember the refrain, "Quitters never win, and winners never quit."  Twenty-six years in real estate and real estate finance has convinced me that the secret is in Dad's admonition, "You can do anything you put your mind to..."

Where is your mind?  IF you want to own a home, put your mind to it, find a REALTOR® who believes in you and won't give up on you, and make a plan.  Remember: "Plan your work and Work your plan."

Do these two things IMMEDIATELY: (1) Set down with your REALTOR® and do a realistic assessment of your income, credit and finances; and (2) seek out a mortgage loan officer that has the "heart of a teacher."

Husband and Wife must do this together--truly become one: set you goals realistically, honestly asses any obsticle, and work together to achieve your goals.  Gentlemen, listen to your wives--hear their need for security, and nurture their desire to give your family a place called "home."  Build on a successful relationship, dare to dream together, work for mutual success, and remember (1) "You can do anything you put your mind to...", and (2) Success is the conclusion to a determined start, a relentless pursuit, and a faithful follow-through!

Experience the Emotions of Excitement, Exhilaration, and Enjoyment.  I See Great Success in your future...and if you are looking for information, go to http://www.LookingForHomes.org .  E-mail me  at rfredcope@msn.com if you want further assistance.

I do remember the first home I bought.  It was an exciting and scary time.

The big one I run into is fear.  Fear of losing the their job, of making a mistake, of the unknown.  It take time to settle them down.  I've done it a few times and the buyers thank me long after the transaction.

Great blog.  If you have any first time buyers you're working with that want to share their experience we're looking for Twitterick entries.  A Twitterick is like the poetry phrase known as a limerick, more details can be found at www.firsthomexperience.com.  If you have a chance check it out :)

Tammie, Erin and Frank,

Thank you for your comments.  I trust that you would join me in encouraging first time home buyers to join in our discussion--let us know their thoughts.  Like the good doctor told a reluctant patient, "Don't worry, I haven't lost a patient yet."

Home buyers can have confidence that they are dealing with professionals who care about them, who invest our time and energy in helping them succeed.  We want them to dream and to realize their dreams.  Whenever they are feeling lost, we want them to be assured that we know the way to their dreams.

I would say to the first time home buyer, "The great thing about your working with an experienced REALTOR® is that you are most likely dealing with someone who has been where you are--having experienced the doubts, difficulties, disappointments, and frustrations you are now experiencing".  At the same time, you will notice that we overcame those issues, own a home, and have realized our dream.  While it may not have been easy for all, nearly all would say it was worth the effort.

Watch for future blogs in which I will share some of those stories.  Have you read about Holly? See my second blog to "First Time Home Buyers: You Can Buy A Home Now".  Remember, there is a great deal of FREE information at http://LookingForHomes.org , including your free annual credit report.
