Realtors Celebrating: Today's "Business Buddy" meeting

I'd like to take a moment to introduce you to a commercial real estate agent, Sandra Martin, one of the stars of Grubb & Ellis Company, San Jose, California. While working all of Silicon Valley, Sandra specializes in the towns of Sunnyvale and Mountain View, representing tenants, landlords, buyers and sellers.
Sandra Martin, commercial real estateShe and I have a business alliance we've dubbed "Business Buddies." Our fields are closely enough related that the trends one sees is valuable for the other to know, yet separate enough that we are never in competition. Having a business alliance like this is huge, and one we both cherish. We function as goal setters, accountability partners, and brain stormers for one another, and a deep and cherished friendship has developed over the years.

We meet every 4 to 6 weeks, and occasionally, like today, celebrate our successes and hard work with a day in San Francisco, a place near and dear to our hearts. After a beautiful drive along the coast today, we took a hike along the Coastal Trail from Land's End to the Palace of the Legion of Honor, where we enjoyed an hour or so viewing the Cartier exhibit. Then it was back to the trail and some long, steep staircases to a lunch spot overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Our business meeting took place with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, and the sound of surf below.

Coastal Trail in San Francisco, CAEnjoying our successes!
Just proves work can be rewarding and enjoyable too! Here's hoping you find your ways to refresh and celebrate your successes!

Hi Lottie ~ What a neat partnership! I can really see the benefits for both of you. And I gotta say - you really know how (and where!) to hold a business meeting!

Hi Dagny, we don't commiserate (at least not often) but do set goals and then report on how well we did at our next meeting--whicih is usualy about 1-1/2 hours. Occasionally, like today, when we've both met our goals and have worked hard, we'll celebrate with an outing. Of course, we're in cell phone contact, doing business as needed while we're out.

Hope you find your special way to celebrate.

Liz, I learned years ago, when I had a rental condo on Kauai and attended homeowner meetings there, that there's not a thing wrong with liking one's work!

In our high-stress business, avoiding burnout is essential, and a get-together like today's is very motivating and renewing. No need to have a business meeting within 4 walls!

Hi Kate -- mixing things up a bit, like this half-day in San Francisco, really keep the joy in our busy schedules, and the motivation running high.

Hi!

I could use a hiking buddy here in Olympia WA....it's hard to get away from just plain work either at the office or on our 2 acre property that NEVER ever is NOT needing something.  And that's not to mention the inside of the house, the quilt that isn't finished, the skirts unmade for my grandaughters, etc etc.  I love the outdoors, the woods and the climb!
