The James River Rambler- Vintage Deisel Train Rides this May

If you have train fans in your family, a great excursion is coming up.  The James River Rambler is taking trips in Central Virginia this month.  May 8th there are two trips available.  One is 1 1/2 hours long to Johnson and is perfect for young families.  There is also a 3 1/2 hour trip to New Canton that features great views of the James River.  The vintage diesel train leaves from Dillwyn Station and winds through rolling hills and beautiful woods in the heart of Central Virginia.  You can even bring a picnic lunch!

My family is going on May 8th when there is Buckingham County Day with arts, crafts and children's activities.  My 3 and 7 year old sons are super excited and can't wait!

On May 15th there will be a special appearance by the Tom Mix Rangers so that you can see the days of the Old West come to life.  May 22nd is Dillwyn Railroad Day and a locomotive and other railroad equipment will be on display for no extra charge.  Sean, Wendy, Zachary and Nathaniel Fall 2009

You can ride in air conditioned reclining seats or in the open window coach or even in open air cars.  I'm sure my boys are going to want to be in the open air coaches.  It should be so exciting for them and for me too!

Dillwyn is only 90 minutes from Richmond and 60 Minutes from Charlottesville

Tickets are $22 for adults for the 3 1/2 hour trip and $11 for children 2-12.  The 1 1/2 hour trip is $12 for adults and $6 for children.

You can go to www.odcnrhs.org for more information.

If you come to the 11:30 trip on May 8th and see my family, stop and say hi!
