Water tasting or smelling funny from your Plano home tap?

When our family first moved to Plano, TX in the fall of 2001, the weather was clear, crisp and wonderful.  Spring was just as beautiful. We were in love with our new hometown!

But as that first springtime blended effortlessly into summer, I, along with every member of my family noticed a funny smelling odor coming from all of our faucets. The water tasted just as weird too!  stinky fish

We thought we had an internal plumbing problem!  Oh, no, our first BIG ticket expense we thought with our new house!  Why hadn't the inspector found it?  $$$$ signs were dancing in our heads.  We knew things around here couldn't be this perfect for long....

Well, we soon discovered the real culprit so read on before you call the plumber!

Welcome to the great State of Texas, where everything is bigger, stronger, and... well, tastier.

This problem seems to be more common in Plano than anywhere else in the DFW Metroplex.  I know this because I have lived in Plano, Dallas (North, East, and West), Garland, Arlington, Fort Worth, and Mansfield.

If you haven't figured it out yet, you can solve this problem with one or both: home water filtration systems and/or water softener.  Of course Ozarka delivers too.

Hears to you kid... cheers!

Hi Duane - thankfully we have filtration system in our water supplied from our fridge.  The tap is just nasty and I guess with all the rain and humidity we've had this summer it's just riper than usual.  Thanks  for commenting and I'll drink flitrated water to that!

p.s. that was me on the last comment - for some reason AR doesn't always automatically sign you into your account and I still haven't quite figured out why sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't...

It's not only in Plano, I'm tasting it from Frisco too. I thought it was just my pregnancy hormones......

Ugh, I can only imagine how much worse it smells while pregnant Loreena.  It's all of North Texas really that's affected.

I use a Brita filter for my water I drink at home because I've always thought the water tasted weird for the last 7 years.  Or if that doesn't work then I buy some bottled water.

Thankfully our fridge has a filter - we're surviving on that and bottled water

It was really awful when Lake Lavon was really low.

Thankfully we have a water filter. Although it wasn't perfect, it made the water bearable

Tom I do have to say it's been better lately - the smell is almost gone completely.
