BALANCE is the Key to My Success

Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Liberty Homes RS-#62825

How we define success will determine the level of success you achieve.  What Really Matters......In This Life?    I continuously ask myself this question and after watching the movie  "The Bucket List"  I wrote a few definitions of success meant to me. I continue to update that list to reflect the person I have become and want to be.

I have to have balance within all aspects of my life. Work, play, family, sleep and so forth. The following simple pie chart reflects the time I spend and in that "work" section is also my blogging, website maintenance and so forth.  This is the biggest part of balance and if I have to do a pie chart to manage my be it.

No matter what career path we have chosen, success will start from within. Most think that if they have a title or many designations following their name that it means they are ‘better than'. WRONGO.  It's how they use the information they obtained to get those designations is what really matters and with an attitude of being "better than" does not constitute it so.

My family is the main source support and I respect that. I go home in the evening to a wonderful husband and have many family moments to establish a solid foundation at home. Without the love and support of family, what would all my hard work be worth?  I MAKE time for my family and in return they understand when there are those few times I have to work first.

No matter if it's work or play I have to love what I'm doing. If I did what I did for status, money or to please others that is not the level of success I am looking for. Having a healthy sense of  "SELF" allows me to go above and beyond when need be.  Real Estate is the most passionate career I have encountered and having a selfless attitude allows me to be all I can be in this industry.

Every so often I take a step back to evaluate my life and it keeps me in check with self.

We live and we die....but it's what we do in between those two is what really matters.

Balance will always be my key to success.

Susan: My situation is a little kids are grown and here but in their own home....  I work from home as well...but I'm anal at keeping things in order. I'm sure you find your balance....for whatever works for you.

Andrea: Priorities are what drive me as well...  Health has a funny way of making us think...

Sally - How interesting to see how someone else divides up their time.  I'm with you on getting 8 hours sleep.  In fact, I got 12 hours sleep yesterday.  I figure if my body needs it and I don't have a morning appointment, then fine.  The other morning I got up at 4 AM, go figure!  Being the caregiver for three people as well as running my real estate business and doing some non-profit consulting on the side, I have to be very rigorous about my priorities.  Every minute spent doing one thing, is a minute I can't spend on something else that may even be more important.  Deciding the priorities is the tough part when there are competing ones.
