Some blog ideas for starters.

In my ongoing desire to help other agents who want to gain the power of a blog for their business I am offering this beginners list of what you can blog about.  I have found through discussions with people that their big stumbling block is in knowing what to write about each day.  You have to imagine your blog as your place to share your first story of the day.  For instance you get into the office and the first person you meet asks how your weekend was, you tell them a story.  That story could be a blog.  A blog is nothing more that a short story that shares information with people.  A blog is written and shared with everyone, while that conversation is just shared between the two of you.  It is personal and informational, that is exactly what a good blog post is. "Simple story told directly" is my definition of a good blog.

Blog about your recent closing and what went right.  Blog about the ways in which you draw leads to you.  Blog about the specific actifvities in your farm area—a parade, a farmer’s market, a special event.  You are sharing your personal thoughts and on the ground reporting on what is going on in your area.  You are giving to your community your window of view of what is going on.  You are letting your clients and prospects know on a regular basis what you are up to and what you are thinking.  It is as simple as just answering the questions, “What is going on?”  “How’s business?”  “What’s up with interest rates? “  “Will values go up or down over the next year?”   I have yet to meet an agent who isn’t filled with opinions.  A blog is a place you can share your opinions and develop an audience.

The results are amazing.  Each week I field referral calls from outside agents who have a client who is moving to the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Each call I receive like this I ask why me?  The answer I get is that when they googled agents in Dallas my name pops up near the top or at the top depending on what they used as their google term.


Once this search is completed most people only look at the first page, and if you have content that you share with people on a consistent basis that content will drive your name and words to the top of those searches in an organic way and not as a sponsored link.  This is very powerful.  It is the web saying that these people are important, rather than these people paid to be here on the top of your google search because they are paying for it.

The power of blogging is amazing, not only for the google juice it provides you, but also in defining what it is you do for your clients and prospects.  Let people know and they will call.  Good luck, if you have questions don’t hesitate to reach out and ask, I would be happy to share with you this “how to”.
