My tutor is giving me spelling lessons

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Realty Group - Lansdale, PA

There are tons of tutors out there!  So many, in fact, you'd have to believe that the real estate agent spelling issues would have been licked ages ago.

Yesterday, my post was about the large number of homes on my local MLS that have stainless steal.  Not a misprint.  That's the way they were listed.

Liz Wallace (Century 21 Sherlock Homes) pointed out that one of her favorite misspellings is tutor - when the agent does not mean an after school education helper!

That got me looking on my own MLS, and I found out that we have a lot of tutors as well!  Broken down into categories:

People who think the world of their wonderful educators

•·         this stately Tutor offers much

•·         Custom English Tutor located in prestigious neighborhood

•·         Well Kept Tutor

•·         Splendid west end tutor

•·         Well maintained Grand English Tutor

•·         Lovely One Of A Kind Tutor

•·         Well Maintained Tutor

•·         Charming Tutor In Convenient Neighborhood

•·         Beautiful Tutor

•·         Very Handsome Classic English Tutor

•·         English tutor reminiscent of true English charm

•·         Great Updated Tutor

•·         One-Of-A-Kind Tutor

•·         Pretty Stone Tutor

Who ever knew so many tutors were twins (is the other twin a tutor, too)?

•·         charming Brick tutor twin

•·         Charming tutor twin

•·         Exquisite Tutor/Colonial twin

•·         Spectacular Tutor Twin

•·         Three Story Tutor Twin

•·         Lovely two story tutor twin

•·         Newly renovated tutor twin

Some educators may only look like educators . . .

•·         Tutor Façade

•·         has been styled after the Tutor tradition

•·         English Tutor exterior

Some educators are all business, without a charming personality

•·         Stone English Tutor

Okay - your educator may have packed on a few pounds, but do you have to advertise that?

•·         Magnificent Over-Sized Tutor

•·         Extra Wide Tutor

•·         Grand English Tutor

Or some may be just shy of the five foot mark

•·         mini English Tutor

Some of my favorites!

•·         Detached Tutor (she knows her material, but is just so aloof!)

•·         Brick Tutor (perfect if you need to brush up on your masonry skills)

•·         With Tutor Beamed Ceiling (what to do with the tutors that just didn't work out)

•·         Tutor Single (when your MLS turns into a dating site!)

•·         Right On Tutor (a child of the 60's)

•·         Charm & character describes this stone tutor (Really? What an oxymoron.)

Which brings me to the listings with truly awful spelling

•·         Beautiful Tuder home

•·         Well Maintained Tuder

•·         Well built tuder style row home

And the special award to the only one spelled this way: Charming Twin Tudur.

The only saving grace was that I couldn't find a home listed as "A lovely two door home in a great neighborhood."

Spelling errors drive me crazy - is it possible that so many people really don't know Tudor from tutor?

Bill - Shhh - I'm trying to get out of cutting the lawn!

Margaret -- It's amazing.  As professionals in the field, you think we should be expected to know the correct names of housing styles.

You see a lot of misspelling on the MLS it really irritates me. I always see stainless steal so we know that they do not use spell-check. We would be the rude ones if we call these agents and told them.

And of course you are leaving out the two door, as in coupe.

Kymberly - Sometimes I politely point out (in private) an error I think someone would like to correct.

Mike & Charles - Yes - my last line!

Malcolm - If is wasn't for Liz, I never would have seen it either!

Ugh.  TUDUR?  I can (almost) excuse the "tutor" spelling, but "tudur" seems worse to me.  I guess it's because "tutor" is an actual word, although misused in this case.

Richard W - Report back on what you find!

Jason - I agree.  Tudur just rubs me the wrong way.  Looks too much like turd.
