My mom is "cleaning out" the house she and my father moved into when I was 9.  That's a LOT of years to collect "things".  Sunday at church she gave my a brown envelope filled with SO many childhood memories.  It contained various report cards from grade school and many "summer library reading certificates and logs"  My husband was reading the names of the books I read each summer when I was a little girl and laughing that I read books about snakes and dinasours.  I love to read and credit my 3rd teacher and my parents who made sure to get me to library a few times a week when I was a girl. :)  I love the library.

Hi Hannah ! The Maywood Library does a lot to get local kids into the library - which I agree, is so important ;o)

Hi Tam ! - It's a dying passtime unfortunately, but I agree with you, we should be promoting it to kids from parents and teachers more. .. and I think I've seen some of those pictures of you as a kid on your blog ;o) Cheers !

Celebrating 20 Years in Real Estate!

Hi,Sheldon!

I've been a little busy since the end of April with the library in our little town of Pennsville.  The township voted to take away all of our funding (100%!).  It's been an uphill battle but we've raised over $16,000 so far and convinced the township committeemen to find $40,000 in their new budget.

So.....thanks for the blog.  It's heartwarming to see that you are helping to promote one of your local libraries.  We cannot allow these wonderful institutiona to fade away.

See ya!

Our public library has a "San Diego Room," but the best place to go for history here is the San Diego Historical Society which is located in Balboa Park.

Reading is so important and I personally support libraries.  However, I wonder how the i-pad will take over the paper industry.  Cheers.  Have a good Father's Day.

One of my favorite places to go is the library, just being surrounded by all this wonderful information to feed your mind and soul, I could spend hours there playing :) Thanks for the information Sheldon :)

Sheldon - I love libraries, but don't spend nearly enough time in them. Yours sounds like a winner. We have two terrific libraries in our town. The services they provide, in addition to loaning books, are impressive. Despite what is happening with technology I don't see the need for libraries going away, The ones that chaneg with the times will prosper. I still love reding a good book...NOT on line.

I haven't been in a library in way too many years.  It's great that your local Maywood library has a room for community events.

With the Internet age, I think people tend to forget about the local libraries. But they really house much of the community's culture, and keep informing and celebrating, honoring and remembering.
