Love the post and I "get" the story.  I have a friend with 9 stray cats (there were 12 at one time).  These stray cats have been with her for as little as 6 years and as much as 13 years.  At what point are they no longer referred to as ferel cats or stray cats?  Is it at the point when the cashier in the grocery store calls her the "cat lady" because of the cases of cat food she buys?  Is it the point when they are all now sleeping in the house, maybe one holdout (Rosie who has been there 13 yrs.) who still prefers the garage?  I love everyone of them, as does my friend.  So does the Vet.  She gets discount.  But no one really wants to admit to having 9 cats in the house, so they will be stray cats for now.
