Disciplined Marketing Is Not A Punishment....It Results In A Reward !!!

By
Managing Real Estate Broker with RE/MAX Executive Realty

It seems that marketing is one of the topics on which I dwell, but that's because marketing is the heart of our business.  There is only one successful method of marketing and that is "Disciplined Marketing."  Whether your preferred method is direct mail marketing, cold calling, door knocking, print advertising or blogging, it needs to be carried out in a disciplined fashion.

Agents begin to slip backward with their production, when marketing is not disciplined.  If your marketing is not done consistently, your results will reflect that.  If your marketing is done consistently but in a "sporadic fashion," your results will indicate that.

Whatever your choice is for marketing, have a plan of action and follow it explicitly.  If you have a gap in your progress, you have weakened your plan and the results will likely suggest that.  Having a gap in your marketing is equivalent to taking a college level course and missing an important class.  You are now at a disadvantage.  Miss another important class and your grade will definitely suffer and you may fail the course.

Marketing should be considered a catalyst in the real estate business.  It will create business without actually becoming part of that business.  Learn to market properly and the results will be your saving grace in this real estate market.

You are absolutely right.  Marketing is the base of our business.  It is a numbers game and if you don't keep those numbers up and a pipeline going you are doomed.

It's not a punishment.... Every morning when I begin my day at 4:30am, sometimes I find it hard to pull myself together since I've only been in bed at Midnight. Yet, I keep telling myself, the discipline that I put in NOW will have payback for years to come. I believe you because BLOGGING is my only consistent marketing effort. It had done wonders for me and my family. I'm moving on to obtaining market share now. Watch for me, Frisco TX!

Barbara...

After all is said and done, we are marketers, plain and simple. And if we don't market properly it will be reflected in our productivity,

Richard.....I've always said that real estate agents are marketing agents, first and foremost....without marketing the phone would not ring and if that happens, we are out of business.....

I learned this lesson the hard way when I first started.  I was busy and let my marketing slip.  A few months later, I felt the results.  Ouch!

Kathryn....write a post about that and how you got on track again.....don't think for a minute that there aren't many, many others going through that, especially during tough economic times....it's so important to continue even if the phone doesn't ring every single month.

Barbara, this post is the prelude to marketing. First the explanation of the class, then the class itself. Whatever the medium that is to be used, consistency must be maintained or it is wasted, and will never be seen. A one time post little chance of being recognized, a second or third post may gather attention. Posts ,made on a consistent basis make the author the authority, or in this case the leader of the community.

Barbara,

Very well said.  It is definitely not a punishment and sometimes the results are not instant.  One key is to have a plan and work that plan.

We have to continue to market, to let our people on the database KNOW we are still in business, and how to get ahold of us when they have a real estate need!
