Saturday morning we drove down to Wilmore to go to a very sweet small town parade with our children and grandchildren. I so much enjoy Wilmore. It is only a 20 minute drive from South Lexington and with the completion of the new four lane highway in the near future it will be quicker and safer. What is so special about Wilmore? It is truly a small town that has somehow preserved the mid 20th century. The parade is mostly people having fun. The lawnmower brigade of men not afraid to have a little fun and laughter is a reflection of the kind of people that live in this Central Kentucky Community.
Wilmore still has a drugstore with Soda fountain. It is the home of Asbury University and Asbury Seminary. Parents rave about the quality of schools in Wilmore.
At this very moment there is a home for sale in Wilmore that would meet the needs of a large family. 111 Pleasantview Drive is about as "green" as they come in Central Kentucky. The newer deck is constructed of recycled material. The Argon Gas Windows, added insulation and variety of energy saving lights keep the total bill for gas and electricity under $100.00 a month. The garden is ready to start harvesting and you will be treated to a stunning bed of glorious zinnias.
Come to Wilmore this Sunday July 11th for the open house from 2:00 until 4:00 PM. Stop by Sims drug for a drink from the old fashioned soda fountain and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in a truly American small town.
