Don't think you can sweep the facts about the real estate industry under the rug.

Bad news is often a simple fact of like and trying to sweep it away under the proverbial rug isn't going to make the bad news go away.

HEAR NO EVIL, SPEAK NO EVIL, SEE NO EVIL and there will be NO EVIL???

Life just isn't always as we wish it to be.  Sometimes the facts of life are not pleasant.

 

After reading my posts about Fannie Mae, Bank of America, negative equity, etc., etc.  I'm getting mail from ActiveRain friends complaining that I'm too negative.  Or, that they believe that I shouldn't write about negative matters. 

Some of the writers don't post to ActiveRain members.  They arrogantly presume to have the right to tell me what to write or not to write.  I say arrogantly because they do it in private mail, not in comments to a post.  They junk up my mail with instructions for what I can and can't write, should and shouldn't write.  I think they sometimes believe that their opinions are so important that they need only utter them in mail and the recipient will follow their orders and write what others want to read.  One silly soul even said that I use poor grammar.  HA!  While that is no doubt true, the critic's statement about my grammar is totally immaterial.  All things considered, I'd rather be interesting than grammatically correct, which appears to be the case, OR THEY WOULDN'T BE READING MY "STUFF".   I learned long ago the value of "cosmetic language"and appreciate interesting content from many, many ActiveRain members, gramatically correct or not.

I'd have posted the private e-mail that I got from the critic but for the copyright thing.  DANG!  So, they can hide under the slimy rock where they reside, throwing stones from their protected cover of anonymity.  Who knows what the sunlight would do to them??  We might not want to watch.  I know ActiveRain members well and they don't have a lot of patience with arrogant critics. 

SPEAK YOUR PIECE!  ActiveRain members have strong beliefs and sometimes comment to my posts that I'm too negative.  I'm not negative.  I'm the most positive person on the face of this earth.  That said, when facts are unpleasant, they are just that, unpleasant.  If there is something positive going on in the housing industry, you'll hear it from me.  However, when there is something negative going on in the housing industry, you'll hear that from me, too.

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION??? . . . . .  WRITE YOUR OWN POST ABOUT POSITIVE FACTS OR OPINIONS ABOUT THE REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY. 

I can't do it for you.  I'm only going to write what I believe to be fact, not what you believe to be fact. 

Let's agree. .  I won't  tell you what to write and you don't tell me what to write.  Fair?????  Comment all you wish about the content but don't even try to censor me. 

Telling me what I should write is a waste of time.  Not even Congress can make that law!!

Paul.  Dang.  I wish comments could be featured.  Thanks for that thoughtful comment.

The very thought of blogging to steer opinion is repugnant to me. 

I do post positive messages regularly.  I post about new home opportunities in my market area.  I post about financing opportunities in my market area. 

I also post about government, bank, etc. policies that affect home buyers and agents in my market area. 

That's my job.  To investigate, to learn, to spread the word.  Our agents are far more effective and able to help serious home buyers looking for a HOME if we can be truthful and helpful about the market.  They're going to buy.  We just want them to buy smart.  As published before WE HAD ONLY ONE BUYER defeult following the housing collapse.  That was because he didn't listen to our advice and picked up a second home, because he could.  When he couldn't refinance it, he lost everything. 

Those are simple facts.

Lenn - sorry I didn't see this until now!  Sorry I missed it.  This is well said!  I don't like the rock dwellers either.  Show yourself for who you really are!  And as to telling people what to say or not to say, geez, go eat some cake.  Marie A. had a part removed for saying something like that, if she really said it...

Lenn, I'm still trying to wrap my head around what kind of dingleberry actually thinks that you will read their cowardly private email and then just fall lockstep in line to comply with their ideas.

Sounds to me like they haven't been paying attention.

Sometimes, the news is just bad.  I think people appreciate honesty and you have more credibility when you tell it like it is.  The self-appointed grammar, spelling, and thought police are missing the point and greater value of a social network.

When there is a turd on the living room floor, you can point out the lovely carpets, extol the virtues of the lovely windows, but ultimately, there is still a turd on the living room floor.
